Most overrated rock acts of all time, in no particular order:

Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, The Eagles, and Eric Clapton (solo work). These are the bands that are responsible for making classic rock boring.

Actually, the acts are "boring" because radio has overplayed them.

I believe that's on Roger Waters "Flickering Flame" album. This "WOOT" makes my heart beat fast too, but I also have all of them either on vinyl or c.d! Keep up the great woots!

(And Syd Barrett—the original lead singer, died a couple of years ago.)

I was born in 1985, so pretty much all of the Pink Floyd mess was over with by the time I got into them. Which gives me an odd perspective, Division Bell seems as much Pink Floyd to me as anything else, since it's not a departure from anything, just another part in the grand puzzle.

I'll buy this and finally have most of everything of my own, not a few albums borrowed from my mom, a few burned, a few downloaded. Should be nice.

You forgot the Beatles. A lot of great stuff; but way overhyped—especially in their early years, with all the idiotic teen twits too busy screaming like crazed 5 year olds to even hear the music, much less enjoy it.

Meanwhile, i wouldn't call any of these acts boring (except AC/DC, who don't do much, if anything, for me). Though i can see if one limits their view to what gets played on mainstream commercial radio (which i avoid), they might get tired of it. (The lowest-common-denominator market can handle only very limited amounts of truly interesting music, before their flaccid little minds die of whining for their factory-pop.)

If you own the lackluster Capitol or Columbia CDs, then it very probably is an upgrade. If you own the outstanding Harvest or MFSL CDs, then perhaps not.

"Embryo" is only available on 'Works,' since the album was put together at the behest of their record company without the Floyd's input or consent. They didn't regard the track as quite finished.

"When the Tigers Broke Free" can be found on the most recent (not 1994) remaster of 'The Final Cut' (which could be the version in this boxed set).

"What Shall We Do Now?" (an extension of "Empty Spaces") is only in the movie 'The Wall' and of course there was no released film soundtrack. I, too, hope it'll be integrated into a future reissue of 'The Wall.'

I have all their albums and am a big fan -- and I'd be buying this if it wasn't for my shelling out so much lately for the third and last Genesis 1970-1975 import CD/SACD+DVD boxed set. Argh!

i thought cd's were coasters now? i was born way before 1975 and have many of these albums on vinyl still and also a few cd's and of course have ripped all of it and uploaded onto my zunes!!!

have to agree about the eagles for sure...clearly you are a child though to think as much about the others mentioned. that or you were one of those geeky kids that didn't get stoned and go to concerts and wait in line at the back doors to party with the bands...oh, shhh...i was a minor and i promised jimmy not mention that

one other comment. pink floyd has some great songs.. most on the dark side album. but arent most of their songs really repetitive and kind of mundane? does anybody really want to put on one of their myriad albums and listen to the damn thing straight through? they made way too many low caliber albums just to make money. they were right there with the MAN, acting like they were outside the box and cool.

Interesting woot; I like the vinyl cover art and inserts but just can't see myself getting this when I have all these albums. Good price though.

You should try Dark Side of the Moon on MFSL UHQR Vinyl. If you want better, you needed to be in the studio with them when they recorded it.

They don't make CDs out of vinyl.
