I have to admit I don't quite know enough about this but I think it's a really good Woot... I've only heard good things about Slacker but not entirely sure of the entire process.. if they happen to go out of business can this still work as an MP3 player on its own?

I have the 8 gig player... it's ok... This is a pretty good deal for $50 though.

Damn. I have a Sirius lifetime sub (SL2) but recently discovered slacker. I have been streaming slacker from my computer at home and absoluetly love it. If I didn't have so much invested in the Sirus sub and all the docs and what not I'd have pulled the trigger on a Slacker G2 long ago.

The only major pitfall to the G1 and the G2 right now is NO car docs. Sucky.

For $50, this is an awesome way to get your feet wet with portable Slacker. I'm going to have to sleep on this.

Will this work through my car stereo?

it looks like it can still play MP3s ........ my only dislike is no video capabilities

I just don't believe in this product for this price.

Actually, the ads are really short & there are few of them. I use the free service & hate commercials (sat radio spoiled me) & hardly realize they're there most of the time.

you get a free service that plays about 3 minutes of ads per hour or upgrade to premium for no ads plus a variety of other features.

you can also add music to the player if you wish, for those who may be worried about using it if slacker dies off

Does anyone know if anything like this exists that can play shoutcast radio stations?

I've only recently heard of slacker but the shoutcast name has been around for a long long time. Or can this be made to read those?

I wonder how "hackable" this guy is...

You don't need to pay anythying.

With the free service, you will listen to 3 minutes of advertisements per hour. The ads are short and very not obtrusive.

Slacker could at any time increase the amount of ads they play though.

Amazon has it for $90.95 and I see some other online vendors selling it for like $70.

Notice the number of purchases 0 this sounds cool but its just web radio the sansa they have been selling has a built in fm tuner the player looks cool gotta give props on that

Yes, you can use it in your car. No, you don't need a full time Wi-Fi connection.

I mean, mp3 players have radio feature already... so beside the screen is bigger, what's the difference???

I was curious about this when I first saw it way back when - may give it a try for $50 and if it's not to my liking I can wrap it up for the holidays.
