Remember when you first saw a flip phone like the Motorola thang we're
selling today? Didn't it seem like the wondrous future promised us by Star Trek and The Jetsons
was finally, tantalizingly near? In addition to being filled with a
renewed sense of childlike wonder, didn't you also wish everything in
the world would flip open like that? Yeah, neither did we, but we have
to put something in this paragraph.
This week, we want you to relive
those nonexistent memories by modifying a boring old non-flip-top
object into a thrilling new flip-ready one. Flip-top coal mines sure
would save the miners a lot of tedious elevator trips. If Sammy Sosa
had a flip-top Louisville Slugger and a handful of cork, maybe he'd be
worth that $16 million the Orioles are paying him. And wouldn't it be a
breeze to fix your car if you could just flip open a large metal door
and gain easy access to the engine? (Oh, wait, never mind that last
one.)
As if we needed to tell you, prizes are $20/$50/$100
for 3rd/2nd/1st. The rules and criteria for winning: our panel of
geniuses can and will make stuff up as it goes along. Use Photoshop,
pen and ink, collage, MSPaint, lomography, Lite Brite, whatever, but
it’ll only be judged if it’s visible in our forums as a jpg, gif, or
png. Try to keep your maximum width to 450px. If you need a place to
host your pictures, try www.imageshack.ws or www.photobucket.com. We have no connection to either, but they seem free and easy to use.
