Bad. But only because the black text refuses to show up against that green. Text looks washed out and is eye-straining to read. Bolder and/or bigger, or maybe a different font, would fix.

Bottom line, it will no longer be fun to read woot if it doesn't change at least a little.

I'm not a fan of having to use the horizontal scroll bar. It just feels like it doesn't fit the monitor.

Black text on green background - not very easy to read. How about giving us an option to turn off the background colors?

Ugh, too wide, too busy. I had to widen my Safari window to fit the home page; I usually keep it around 950 pixels wide and that works for 99% of the sites I visit regularly.

The woot product loses prominence being off to the left instead of somewhat centered like it used to be. The muted green is dull and makes the descriptive text difficult to read. The bright, contrasting colors of the old color scheme was eye-catching and captured the "buy-it-now-while-you-can" urgency of the site.

Woot Staffers:
Definitely looks like there's an incompatibility issue with IE6. This is something that is required for use by MANY people at their places of work. Will there be a fix put in place to make it work?

And don't just snarkily say "Get Firefox" because many at work cannot do so.

I don't like the comments box length, Woot wasted a lot in the right side of the screen because of the google adds.

I DON'T LIKE IT.......

The scrolling is very irritating for those of us who do not yet have ginormous wide screen monitors.... Also, the missing left margin is somewhat discomforting.

If nothing else, though, please change the green on white headers in the forum, though... they're hard to read.

I have to agree. I know it's sad but I come here just for the descriptions. They make me buy things I really don't need, but where's the fun in buying koi I don't need if I can't enjoy the descriptions without getting a headache trying to read them?

Don't like it. Maybe if you put the woot product in the middle column, with ads on the left and right, it would be ok. I hate seeing the "dealnews", "daily wootcast", random t-shirt ads, whatever, in the middle.

I'm not a professional website designer, but here are two steps I recommend to get it back to a reasonable width and consolidate the wasted space:

1. Put the title and price of the product above the picture, and move the Condition, Product, and Buy button underneath the picture.

2. Get rid of the middle column in the bottom area. The two ads and Wootcast link can move back to the right column, and the sales snapshot needs to go -- the stats really aren't useful for the average visitor.

I know I'm not alone, I've read the others comments.

I'm sure you worked very hard on the new look, but I'm sorry I'm not a fan of "most" of it.

I like the few user posts on the .com, I like the new footer. I can even say I'm good with the header.

However because of the extreme swings in Advts the massive green falls flat. You should have stuck with more of a off-white / gray background. Atleast this is true for me.

I agree with DeepFriedBoot, this is definately a "New Coke" effect. I don't like it. It's too wide, the product stats seem cramped and small, then the pop-up/out detailed product stats seem much less interesting in their new drab colors. I found the old site to be more user friendly and intuitive. I know it's partially due to being a new layout, but I still seem to be looking for the links I want more than clicking on where I want to go next.

I also agree that allowing a choice would suit everyone better, and it is the way things are headed, with more "end user options."

I do like that everything (forums mainly) are much more integrated with the design. Kudos!

A 1080 view port width is a bit much (if that hasn't been said enough already).
Even according to the Steam Hardware Survey for December (and I would think a lot of overlap in user base exists, but woot surely looked at the resolutions used by its users) lists 1280x1024 as the most common (but that's a big browser window on that resolution to hold woot.com now) with 1024x768 still the next most common.

Anyway, I like the design, colors (like others have said) will surely grow on us. Sure, broccoli & carrots were a stark change from the fondness of purple woot 1.0, but onward to pea soup! (Or whatever secret codename this design will yield ...)

Well, I have to say, not very happy. Change is of course inevitable, but some things like Death, Taxes, and Woot should never change.

1 - WAY TOOOO WIDE, 1024 x 768 here and scrolling around is a pain.

2 - Forums seem too white, funny thing is I can't remember what it looked like before, but it seemed softer somehow...

3 - No REPLY button on the Forum posts, using ie6 here (need too use it for work software that does not support ie7)

4 - why change a good thing? felt very comfotable with old layout, main page seems too busy now, does not flow well, looks truthfully like a newspaper front page. yuk

5 - did i mention too wide?

6 - oh yeah, it's way too wide.

It 'looks' nice in that horrifyingly apple-induced, flickr/facebook 'web 2.0' way.

But as far as usability, I agree with whoever said it's way too much koi on the screen. There's less space for the main content, i.e. the woot write-up or the discussion posts or the composition box for a new post [SERIOUSLY, a gigantic 1/3-page "Well What haev you got to say for yourself" box while you're typing a comment?!?]. And the other koi could be made so much smaller, or at least lower the dead-green-space:text ratio by making the text bigger or change the font or something.
