Yuk Green and Wide Yuk

This is what happens when you put 1000 screaming Woot monkeys with keyboards in a room. The chances are good something like this would happen. I guess that even Woot isn't recession proof! Oh for the love of a Bunny On Crack!!!!! Give me my Woot back!!!!

I like the discussion preview shown next to the item.

As a whole I like it, but that is because it looks perfect on my screen that is a Westinghouse 32 in LCD HDTV.

Also looks good on the macbook.

We need a really good item tonight to kick off teh new design.

There is a solution to the ads: use firefox and the Adblock Plus add-on - no more ads

no one liked the 1.0 to 2.0 change either. you'll get used to it.

Alright - tags don't work

I dislike it, I have a 22" monitor and its to wide for me. I have a 22" so I can multitask and have room for everything. I don't like how I have to Maximize woot to get the most of it. Unlike your previous design. The woot is to wide. And I like the orange.

Yes, it is too wide for me as well. However, if you were to move all of the ads to the far right and all of the Woot! stuff in the middle column, I would mind the width one bit.

did they buy the old code for MySpace??

every few refreshes the color goes away and have to refresh a few times to get it back

this is annoying on shirt woots site because the "my account" link is white and the only way you can tell that its there is when your mouse turns into a hand.

Don't like the fact that the ads are now higher up - before I had to scroll down to see them. It really hurts my eyes when the ads flash all the time on the woot page. Also, what happened to looking organized? The ads are all over the place - which is really kind of annoying.

Like the comments scroll thing, though.

and I will join the "it's too damn wide" chorus, but it has a lot to do with the content/layout. woot does not really need to be that wide...

I dislike the header/navbar. the my account/log out placement is horrid, as are your ad placements. an ad in the middle, disrupting the entire front page?

Make better column choices in placement and contents. Ads can be part of the page, sure, but I don't know why you would put them smack dab in the middle.

As burntorange27 said, my biggest complaint with the new layout is the placement of ads (vs. woot! content). Best example, I load up shirt.woot and right there in the exact middle of the page is a big fat ad for Snorg Tees.

Meanwhile, the actual woot! content is pushed all the way to the left, scrunched up to the side, mixed-in with a bunch of other things I don't need to read. It's difficult to make out were the extra content (wootcasts, side deals, snaphots) ends and the item description (imho, the best reason to come back every day) begins.

As a user, it's a bit annoying. The most eye-catching element of the page is an ad for a competitor? If I wanted to check out Snorg Tees I'd go there. I came to woot, so keep your wootness front and center where I can see it.

(I refreshed the page, now it's an Animated GIF for customink.com. Ugh)

Width/Render issues
1400x1050 does not render properly in Firefox3
1280x1024 does not render properly in Firefox3
1600x1200 is just wide enough to not have to side scroll
1280x1024 and 1400x1050 render fine in IE7

White is really bright even with 3M privacy filter

FYI: I am using an intel onboard video 82945G w/ Viewsonic G225f or Viewsonic G810 both 21"

As someone who is visually impaired, I would like to mention that taupe on green is very low contrast and VERY hard to read.

Not so good. Why change a good thing bring back the old layout!

I'm not seing too many things that people won't get used to. I'm not a big fan of this shade of green. Maybe something a shade darker?

Here are a couple things to try for the font-size and scroll-right complainers:

1. Use your Ctrl-Mouse Wheel up/down to adjust the font size. That will sometimes get rid of your "scroll-right" problem.
   
2. Click "View" then "Text Size" (IE) to make the text bigger (for those without a scroll wheel on their mouse).
   

it's fine. but just fine. the only thing I don't like is that it's too wide. I have to scroll right to see wine.woot etc. so, a page that's more dynamic would be better.

Not a fan, personally. I have a widescreen monitor (1680x1050) but still find this too wide. I like to multi-task and it doesn't fit like nice 1024-friendly pages do.
Also it doesn't fit on my laptop.

I really like the new design. I think you guys should have had a woot-off in celebration of WOOT 3.0

So far the only thing I dislike about the new design is the fact that I have to side-scroll to see certain things. It is really annoying to have to scroll left/right to read things.

A little warning woulda been nice. Thought you guy had been hacked. The sites all render VERY brightly using FF3 and IE7. All of the functions I had before I still have. The 'Discuss This' link was hidden behind the ridiculously large gold button 85-90% of the time any way so I don't miss that.
The one criticism I have is that the contrast between the comment headers and the white text is so small that it's hard for me to read the date and time of the comment. A little darker there and I won't even miss the old layout.

I agree it is too wide. Plus your logo and anything else on the left margin is right at the edge, ready to fall off the screen! I kinda like the green though.

Wow. I was not expecting that.. I thought my browser hadn't fully loaded the page at first. :-p

Everything on the white background on the main page is a-ok by me. Everything on the green background is I am awestruck by its beauty.

It's too wide, too cluttered and there are too many ads. Why must we be visually accosted when we come here to buy things? I could handle the side deal, but this new layout is making me reinstall AdBlock in Firefox. Ick.

Well, I do miss the orange (that IS a lot of green) but thanks in my corner to you for using all of my monitor @1280x1024. Works great for me, maybe 'cause I also have IE 7.
Hope I learn the way to get a Bought On Credit, or you get servers enuf to handle that occasional bombarding. Why do they insist on 'refreshing' when they have one page open?

I love that woot is changing the layout! On the otherhand, the current design lacks visual stimuli. It does look more modern, but it will quickly look outdated without a change to the color scheme and design of the area with the product's picture. My favorite new feature is the Discussion feed to the right of the featured item.

Pros:

clip at the top of the description area;
discussion feed to the right of the item;
pentagon shading over the area of the site that the user is currently visiting;
overall layout;

Cons:

large amounts of white areas are a pain to look at;
my favorite color is green, but this shade is of green isn't flattering, nor is it enough to contrast the blandness and glare of the white background.

conclusion:

please change the color scheme so I can stare at woot lovingly again.

...and maybe buy something.

I have to confess, that I am not a huge fan of the new site. It is too wide, and not particularly appealing from a visual standpoint.

Just my two cents.

And Epsilon51's top 4 list is cutting off the numbers on the left slightly (1280x1024 res/IE7)..
Also, not sure if this is a bug or not..when replying to his message..only half his post is in the message box in quotes..I wanted to show his top 4 list but its not showing up in here..never noticed this..so it may be also be present in the diet-woot of old..

Lastly..any IE 8 beta users, or Windows 7 users hitting this site tonight? I knew I should have brought my laptop home I loaded up at work today..just wondering how it looks..(not that woot will change anything to accomodate it...)

I like the layout, but the green inhales sharply and creates suction. The colors on all three other woot sites look much better.
