Where else but on Woot can a lively discussion about the tuba/sousaphone break out? Next we'll be discussing Tron.

I'm sure you did not mean to describe the "march king" John Philip Sousa who brought us our national march The Stars and Stripes Forever as having a reputation of the worst kind or notoriously evil. Perhaps instead of infamous you could have used famous, acclaimed, applauded, brilliant, celebrated or excellent to better describe Sousa.

Actually, as a French horn player who really despises playing Sousa marches, "infamous" is the correct wording, at least in my book. :-P

I was tempted, but I already have a 42" Toshiba that cost me $1099 last year.

This is a pretty good deal even though I think Toshiba has a nicer picture quality.

I got on here a little late to reply, but I was dazzled to see this was the screen shot. I don't know that the movie is in full release yet, but it is a lovely Swedish absurdist flick that hit film festivals last year called Du levande, or translated into "You, the Living". I worked a mediocre film festival that was fortunate enough to host this one and I absolutely loved it. I hope you get a chance to check it out.

Well 1st let me say that all you folks who have tvs that take 1080i but are not 1080p you really are watching 720p downconverted .

Now I woulkd like someone to really explain all this stuiff with 120htz .

Now if no one is sending your tv 120htz signal its just making up frames right ?

So its really just showing you some frames twice ?

I have a 4061f samsung and while I don't watch a lot of sports when I have never seen any motion blur .

I feel its kinde of like when you see the display that shows you the differance between blu-ray and a reg dvd . I don't know about you but I have never seen a dvd look that bad

120HZ is the refresh rate. It updates the screen twice as fast as normal 60Hz TV's. It gives a smoother, flow to the picture, but to most viewers it looks funny.

And there is no question between Blu-ray and DVD.

It's roughly 6 times the resolution available on Blu-ray compared to DVD.

So I've been curious as to Woot's shipping process for this type of deal. It's not really detailed anywhere, so it makes for a frustrating experience to understand what's going on. From what I uncovered in the forums from previous LCD TV sales, Seko Worldwide is the freight handler for this type of purchase. Is that a correct assumption? I wish there was a way to know at what stage the shipping process is in. I'm sure most Woot customers would appreciate that.

This TV ships via FedEx Home Delivery which is our standard shipping method. If you don't see the Smartpost icon or a truck freight message on the front page of the sale, the product is shipping FedEx.

What does refurbished or recertified mean? Click here to find out.

Estimated Delivery: Friday!

I'm pretty stoked -- I'll be sure to post back first impressions for all of you still waiting.

P.S. I'm in Louisiana, so that might be why mine says it'll be delivered so soon. Pity I won't be watching the Super Bowl.

I'm hoping the weather conditions in TX aren't so bad that our shipments are delayed. Fedex does have a notice on their site about severe weather conditions possibly causing delays.

Come on Global Warming, I need my Eco-friendly Philips for Superbowl so I can watch those $3 million dollar 30-second commercials in HD... AND witness the Steelers crush the Cardinals. :P

So whats the story with the warranty? Is anyone satisfied with Square Trade and what they offer for $77. Just need some advise; its the first time I'll be getting any 3rd party warranty and concerned with the 90 day thats offered with Phillips.

I'm wondering the same. I'm considering getting it. They seem to have a pretty good track record according to reviews on the web I've seen.
Don't forget, the link they posted on Woot the day this TV was being sold had a misprint. It's actually $80 for a year, not three. You can extend it an extra year for $40 more.

!!!
Shipping update: On the truck headed to Baton Rouge. Should be there about 4 PM today, according to Google Maps.

Btw, people, I called Square Trade. Here's the deal...

First, since it has a 90 day warranty on it, it is considered "new" to square trade.

Second, "SUPERBOWL" gets you a 35% discount on whatever warranty you buy.

Third, by calling, they offered me a 4 year warranty...final cost after the 35% discount was $68.99...SWEET DEAL!!!

Mine arrived and was dead. The path according to Philips is to have an "authorized service center" look at the tv. Initially Philips said they never heard of woot and that the broken tv was an issue between me and woot. When they ran the serial # they corrected themselves. Its place I called (given their number by philips) would not agree to look at the tv, second one agreed to swing by on Monday.

I heard something about having to hold the power button down for a few seconds. Give that a try and see if it comes up.

Mine arrived dead as well. I took the day off work to receive the package and have the cable company come out and install cable cards to along with the new tivo hd I bought.

When I went to turn the tv on the first time for the cable guy, it was dead. I had to lug my old tv back to my bedroom so they could complete install.

I am so sad/angry/depressed.

Man I hear you, I would feel the same way. I'm in eager anticipation of what I'm about to receive. I'm sure glad that I didn't plan a Super Bowl party around this purchase, staring at a pile of glass isn't much fun.

Anyone have some good news to share? Any success stories in receiving this item? Give me some hope!

I dont like recert LCD TV's either BUT you will NOT get a new one for $50 more, you're tripping if you think you can do that for this grade of TV. Hence, the early sell out. Some chose to shoot koi for that quality. :p

Phheeeewwww... A big sigh of relief today. I had the Fedex driver wait while I pulled the screen out of the box, everything was OK. I plugged it in, and started various test. I'm very pleased, it looks like it's in good working order!

I don't want to consider myself lucky because ordering a TV online should be as smooth as this was. I feel for those who ran into some sort of problem with their screens. I hope it all gets taken care of smoothly. Thanks woot!
