Michael Fourzan, Father of Kalai wrote:My name is Michael Fourzan and I'm the father of Deborah Kalai Fourzan.
As you may know, my daughter was abducted from Tecumseh, Oklahoma on February 2 by James (Jim) Joseph Reimer.
I have raised Kalai here in Dallas for most of her life until the time she wanted to live with her mother in Oklahoma not too long ago.
From the day my daughter was abducted, I have been in constant contact with the Tecumseh Oklahoma police and the FBI and at this time, neither agency has substantial leads as to where my daughter is.
News media and America's Most Wanted have covered my daughter's story but as a concerned parent, I still had to use the media to my advantage to get the word out on my daughter's disappearance so I had asked the staff at my work here at Woot if they could post a story about Kalai so so that you, the Woot community, can be on the lookout for both my daughter and Jim.
Without reservation, they posted links and a picture of Kalai that same day.
Since Kalai's abduction, I have missed almost two weeks of work in searching for her. Most companies would have severed an employee regardless of the circumstances had they been gone that long. My employers told me to take as much time as I need until I felt I could come back.
I would like to extend a thank you to Woot staff for understanding what I am going through and helping with my efforts to find Kalai. This, to me, shows the support, integrity, caring and concern that the staff here at Woot has. A special thanks in particular to Beckie, Thomas and Stuart.
I would also like to thank the Woot community for your outpour of concerns and prayers through your comments. May you and your families have the brightest blessings!
In closing, I'm writing this now in hopes that you, the Woot community, could be a little extra vigilant and be on the lookout so that my daughter will be returned home safely.

With my sincerest thank you and gratitude,
Michael Fourzan

I just saw this today. I am a member of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club. We raise money for St. Jude's Children Research Hospital in Memphis. I have saved her page as a PDF and will send this to all of our members. We are nation wide and HATE people that mess with kids!! Good luck in your search and I hope this helps.

I think it's awesome that you guys put this up here. Good deals on cool stuff is awesome, but bringing this kid home safe is better.

I am thrilled to see that when we have a way to alert as many people as possible to bring a child home, we use it.
Albuquerque, NM is on the look-out!

I've Re-Tweeted your Twitter post about it. I hope someone takes a look at it and pass it on themselves, or has some information on this. This is a terrible thing to have happened. I do hope she's found soon. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

Thanks all. We were just made aware and asked earlier today to do what we could to get the word out. I'm hearing there is some more information out on the web in general.

edit - looks like a news story repost here from yesterday: http://bankofkev.blog-city.com/the_latest_on_deborah_kalai_fourzan.htm

video link on that site. text transcript:

TECUMSEH — The mother of a missing Tecumseh teenager said her daughter may have been lured into leaving home with promises of attending an anime convention.

Deborah Kalai Fourzan, 14, has been missing since Monday. Authorities think she is with 40-year-old James Joseph Reimer, a former family friend.

Fourzan’s mother, Crystal Vanbuskirk, said Fourzan has never been in trouble and leaving home is out of her character.

"She may have gone willingly with him, but as far as I’m concerned she’s been kidnapped,” Vanbuskirk said.

Deborah’s parents recently discovered Reimer had been sending Fourzan sexually explicit text messages. They notified police and warned Reimer to stay away from her.

Vanbuskirk said police questioned Reimer, but nothing was done until her daughter turned up missing. Reimer was charged Tuesday in Pottawatomie County District Court in connection with the text messages.

Crow said that through interviews with people who know Reimer, they’ve found he has a history of violence against women.

Fourzan’s friends told authorities she left school Monday morning with plans to travel to an anime convention in California.

Reimer and Fourzan share an interest in the Japanese animation, and Fourzan left home that morning with a black backpack filled with anime costumes, Vanbuskirk said.

Authorities are checking anime conventions across the United States, including one this weekend in Austin, Texas, Tecumseh police spokesman Billy Crow said.

Vanbuskirk said she and her husband have known Reimer for about five years. She said he had been like an uncle to their daughter.

Crow said Reimer is the chief suspect in a burglary Sunday at a convenience store where he worked. Several thousand dollars were stolen, he said.

Tecumseh police Let. J.R. Kidney said he believes the pair is driving a ’90s white Mercury Cougar with front-end damage.

While I have been told that there is nothing worse than the loss of a child due to death (which I have experienced), I have always responded that there is always something worse. This is it. My prayers are with the family. I pray she is returned home safely soon.

Authorities thought they might show up at an anime conference in Austin this past weekend so everyone down here has been on the look out. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family in hopes of her safe return.

i live in SoCal and there is an anime convention in San Fran Feb 14 - 15. some one should keep a lookout up there, or alert the police. it might be the one they were supposedly headed to.

Im a retired police officer from D.C. and I one thing cops hate for sure is people messing with kids. I have sent this to all my buddies still on the street and will be trying to get our union to send it to the other posts. Just so you know other agencies don't always communicate as quickly as us street cops would like so a phone call to any area u think they might go would be a good heads up.

I really hope he gets caught by an officer who has kids/daughter. God Bless.

I'm a former staff member of Katsucon, ironically going on this weekend in DC. I reposted this info to the Katsucon LJ as a lot of staff and con goers frequent and hopefully some people will pass it along the chain of con fans, maybe some people will be on the lookout at that con in San Fran this weekend.

Good luck, stay positive!

I'm happy that you posted this, and reading the other comments, I hope she's found safe and soon. Once she's home it would be good if you do the same for other lost kids...would be another reason to check woot daily. Good luck!!

I'm happy to see this on Woot. I have supported the US Amber Alert for a while and have their ticker on my websites.

Come to think of it, Woot! should add their ticker somewhere. As many visitors as you have it would probably help a bit and it wouldn't hurt anything.

Nice editorial, but I think you're full of it. Getting stopped by a couple of cops who are dads is exactly what needs to happen. I hope they cripple that joker.

Anybody who has any connections with Animé should pass this along and find people who can blast it on sites and newsletters. That sounds like one of the best ways to get this resolved.

They will be going into stores that sell Anime, sooner or later, that is probably for sure. They may not show up at an event as it's so public. So any Anime reseller sites, business news, etc should be commented on,emailed, called etc...

Everybody can get in on this: make a connection, comment on a forum, etc and then go back here and update where and when so others may do the same, or at least not repeat on your efforts.

Let's show what the Woot community can do!

OK. I went to animeforum.com and sent them this:

I just saw a post on Woot! concerning a missing/abducted child. The child and the suspected abducter may be going to an Animé event.

CAN you make a difference and get these links posted on your site!?

I have no connection to this, just saw an opportunity to make a difference. Here are the links:

WOOT -feel free to edit my post to help communicate what I think is a great message.

Perhaps move my previous call to action post to the top of this list? Or make one of your own.

A viral attack on this could be the best opportunity you have.

You could add to this effort a mini-site, with strong SEO (for ranking.) (we are quite good at this and will offer our services, if needed.)

Something that people could embed in Facebook, Myspace, etc... could help. An image or simple video animation of pictures.

Maybe a FAN PAGE on Facebook? I know it sounds perverse to become a fan but it may be a good viral tool.

You get my point: harness the power of the web, this community and viral marketing!
