Shipping kills this one. You can get similar ones about a dollar more with free shipping from other deal websites.

If you're in for 3, you might be saving some cash, but those who are only looking for 1 should look elsewhere.

Well, I can't say you're wrong. But then again you need to look at the merchandise. (Now I know it's all cheap junk.) The Woot unit is Bluetooth 1.0 and the other is 2.0. The Woot unit is large compared to the other one. Woot is selling yesterday's technology at a higher price. These are only minor points but it gives me a chance to "think" I'm right!

I could use this, but if I purchase one, it would be more expensive than ebay.

I don't know who your phone provider is, but it is possible to tether if your wireless provider offers the capabilities. You just add the bluetooth device, discover your blackberry, the blackberry will setup as a modem, and you should be good to go. I know Verizon has a piece of software that you must use on the front end, anyone else I don't know.

It's best used, however, for keeping your contacts/calendar in sync with your system.

Why get a bluetooth adapter? Has anyone ever seen how to get your wiimote to talk to your laptop? Check out Johny Chung Lee on youtube. Using a wii-mote, a bluetooth adapter, and a IR LED light pen, you can turn you monitor into a touch/write screen. Connect it to you projector and you can have an interactive Smartboard. I use one just like this to teach my math classes. Why ever write on chalk again. A regular Smartboard runs about $3000. My set up runs about $65. Bluetooth important. I think I will buy five

Actually most people build units as you call them and need these to add bluetooth. Infact my computer is so old i need to hand crank the power supply to get it to turn on

Well, this if my first Woot! and I didn't know that shipping for 3 was the same as for 1. Had I known, I would have bought 3! Arggh!

Is Woot! shipping always $5 for all items purchased that day?

anyone get this working with a DUN (dial-up networking) bluetooth connection?

I tried the SyN0717A driver at driverguide.com, but it doesn't seem to recognize my stick. (It only picks up the M$ Bluetooth driver which doesn't seem to work with the windcomm software)

To anyone who bought these: I just got my set of 3 today, and they work great. I noticed a lot of people searching for drivers before buying. Mine worked fine plugged straight into the computer, Windows and P&P took over. I used it with both Vista and XP and it worked fine in both. Just thought I'd give a little knowledge of what I've discovered so far

Good blue tooth well worth the buck fifty. No need for drivers because it uses windows driver.

I got three, and they worked very well with Vista. While not stubs, they're small. Used one with a printer that is blue tooth capable but not wifi, so now I can print wireless....

Got a spare one, but they appear to be pretty solid.

They meet the Microsoft test...They're good enuf!

Thx woot!

OK - so now I have it. What do I do with it? I want to use my BT headset as a PC headset. Can I do this thru the dongle?

My PC can see the device as a BT hardware, but not the BT software on the PC. I am so confused!!

What code is used to pair these if you know?

raithias

If anyone is still having issues getting these to work with Vista, you may need to go to Device Manager (right click on Computer and choose Manage, then click on Device Manager on the left side of the window that opens in case someone wasn't aware) and the dongle will be listed under Bluetooth Radios. If you right click on the device listed under that heading and choose Update Driver then choose the option to let Windows search the net for a driver it will find an updated driver, download it, and install it. After that, the dongle works great. Already have my phone and a Dell Bluetooth mouse and keyboard paired and working (someone lost the Dell dongle for the mouse and keyboard, which is why I am not using their dongle ;) ).

How do you get this thing to work? I got it in a plastic bag from Woot, and my Samsung doesn't see it. Not sure if my laptop using XP sees it either.

I don't have mine yet either, it has been stuck at "departed from Chino, CA" for 7 days and was due to be delivered today. I contacted FEDEX just now, so hopefully I will find out if maybe they just parachuted it out to me as they were flying over Oregon, so I can maybe go look in the field down the road to see if it is there.

Hm, I did that and it said the thing about it updating an driver, and that it was installed...but I still can't find it. At least, my phone can't. My phone says to place it into discoverable mode, but I am not sure how to do that.

I guess I'll keep googling.

I just got mine today the same way. I was looking for drivers for a minute before I got here and read that you don't need drivers, as was my case on XP w/SP3. Notifications popped up in the taskbar telling me it found it, and then installed the drivers and told me it was ready to be used, then the BT icon showed up in my taskbar. I'm about to test my bluetooth headphones after the set charges for a bit.
