Got mine a couple days ago, and it is excellent! Would also rate it 5 stars..
And this is not even remotely about lazy. Even if you're not lazy, you personally aren't likely to spend a half hour plus thoroughly recleaning a carpet that is already clean, this will. It also has a 'dirt detection' system that notices dirt you never would see, and cleans those areas even better. Over time it will keep your carpets much cleaner than you ever could manually, and that is dirt that isn't being ground into the carpet. This coupled with regular carpet cleaner cleaning should add years of life to your carpet, if not doubling its life or more.
I wasn't sure myself, but after reading reviews decided to try it, and glad I did. No doubt is going to keep the carpet cleaner than almost anyone could stand to do manually. Yes you have to clean it manually, but at least that is relatively easy and in one spot, it has taken dirt from the carpet that you probably never would have found yourself. $150 was easily what a decent vacuum would have cost, and you don't have to do the work, and it does it better. Even if it takes 1 or 2 more for parts etc to keep things going for 5 or 6 years it'll still be worth it. Fortunately I'm a tech so any problems won't be much of a problem for me, could be a little more troublesome for most people. Heck you have to clean and maintain a regular vacuum once in a while too, or expect to take it somewhere or replace it now and then..
Not a 100% perfect no touch system, but for sure it has some definite advantages over a manual vacuum, and not just 'doing the work'. I'd say the thin spindly strands of the main brush and the narrow high vacuum area are cleaning more deeply into the carpet than any hand vacuum I've ever used, the engineering seems pretty well done..
If you say you aren't going to buy one because you'll 'do the work' and 'aren't that lazy' then you need to seriously reevaluate your thinking. It's very unlikely you will work as hard and often as this thing can, and also quite unlikely you even could do as good of a job no matter how much you used a normal vacuum.
Not to mention why would you? This and a good lawn mower robot would be excellent, two time consuming tasks that a robot could do better. Why would you ever want to waste part of your life doing that carp? Let the robot do that and go do something else a robot couldn't do.
Sounds like an ad, but really the advantages are just that obvious once you've had one in action a couple of times. I expected it to be pretty good from some of the reviews, and it has exceeded my expectations.
