Ah, it's going to be a Dyson day, there are only 2 types of people in the world, those who love dyson and those who hate them, and those who've never heard of them and those that can't count.

I love mine, it's great, even have the hand held root. Dyson support has been helpful and sent a replacement charging cradle when mine went bad. I've never had a problem with my full size. I don't have the round-ish thing, um, ah..., and don't want the round-ish thing, um, ah.... it tends to get squirly on the straight aways.

I've never used a Dyson vacuum before, are they really all that great? I have used the fancy Dyson hand dryers before, and I was highly impressed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkQrCF-D-9k&feature=related

Did you actually try to order it from there? I was trying to check shipping costs and here is the message I got:

At this point you can not complete payment and purchase on our site. We have an internal error, and can not accept orders.
Estimated time to repair: 31 days

Please do not email us at this time, we are aware of the problem.

This is a piece of guppy! I have a DC25 and would give it to you for a dollar! (plus $350 shiping! - I am pissed, not stupid!) I get static shocks when using it, it does not pick up as advertised & "never loses suction" EQUALS "we blow it back in your FACE!"

46 Woots-to-date since 11/05, including 3 Random Craps (WHY don't they send the @#$% BAG?!) PLUS A whole buncha Shirts!

I bought one of these @ Costco. It got returned. It made lots of squeeking. It wasn't the round-ish thing, um, ah..., but rather the brush housing. I called Dyson (which have fantastic CS), and the person told me that I should have purchased the DC17 (Animal). I've had that for three years now without a hitch.

The rainbow is about the same as far as not losing air flow due to clogging bags, but you have to deal with the water sludge. If you like the canister style of the rainbow, Dyson does have a new model that is similar and it won't cost you $1500. I was once a rainbow dealer, nice machines but not worth the price.

Thermax I've never dealt with.

I'm a bit confused by the links to arabscarf.com... I think it's a bit odd that a Hookah seller is selling a Dyson vacuum

I dont have this particular model, but i do own a Dyson. It is the best vacuum I have ever bought. It embrangles up darn near everything! Sure they may be a little bit more pricey, but it does the job right the first time. Instead of burning through cheap vac after cheap vac, buy a dyson. You'll be happy you did.

bought the DC18 Slim on here a few months ago, it's been amazing.

but it didn't come with the attachments and I ended up stuck in an infinite loop of woot telling me to call Dyson and Dyson telling me to call woot.

i understand woot's side as the reseller, afterall it's not like they're personally refurbing and packing the boxes and would thus be responsible for the missing parts and have the components on hand to ship me. Dyson on the other hand being the manufacturer presumably refurbing/packing the boxes with parts on hand would only offer to SELL me replacements and nothing else.

so buyer beware: great vac, terrible customer service.

Hard to believe no one's exploded over the "AirWatt" thingy yet...

According to THIS NERDY PAGE, airwatts are a Dyson invention. Also, a poor one, when comparing other vacuums to the Dyson... Oh hell - since I know you're lazy....

I added this section for our Dyson fans, I've been asked what is air watts well here is the formula:

(Air Flow * Vacuum)/8.5 = Air Watts

Air flow is CFM (cubic feet per minute)

Vacuum is inches of water lift

so a Dyson has approx 350 air watts as stated in the advertising.

lets test that against a Kirby which has approximately 45 inches of water lift as tested, and 110 cfm as stated in the technical specifications sheet provided by the Kirby company.

so: 110cfm X 45 inches = 4950

4950 / 8.5 = 582 air watts

test 2:

I went a got the cheapest Regina bagless $79.95 and tested it.

50 cfm and 65 inches of water lift

so: 50 cfm X 65 inches = 3250

3250 / 8.5 = 382 air watts (thats more air watts than the Dyson at 15% of the cost)

Bagless vacuums are deceiving they really look like they are cleaning when in fact most dirt cups only hold 10-20 ounces of dust. Compare that to some vacuums we see that hold 10 to 15 pounds and you get the idea.

Well it looks like Dyson better find a new rating system quick!

Maybe they should try the Cleaning effectiveness per amp method

see the AMPS section.

I have a Dyson bagless cyclonic knock-off and I love it.

Actually, those prices are for international buyers. To be honest, though, I wouldn't trust that site very much, so it's a moot point anyway. ;-)

EDIT: Bah, they might be shipping from the UK, so the int'l rates might apply to US. Still doesn't really matter, since their order system's borked.

Thank you . A Rainbow saleswoman was over at my house a few months ago and didn't really have an answer for that. And the Rainbow didn't beat the Thermax...it was pretty much the same. The great thing about the water type vacuums (at least with Thermax that I know of) is that you can clean up liquid spills. The Thermax sucked up a huge toilet leak I came home to one day. They're about half the price of a Rainbow.
