Ohmygod. I love Disney, and I love records. This is like a match made in heaven. I'm in for one. Now I just have to blow the dust off my record player, and I'll be set!

This is one of the most awesomest woots I have ever wooted.

30 woots and counting over 6+ years.

I guess all of those Disney workers that weren't laid off can buy this to fill the void.

Woot! Disney taps yet another revenue stream. Looks like this venture really took off.

Seriously, my kids love the "huge cds" and spent much of last year listening to all kinds of records in different genres. Unfortunately we had to downsize and the "huge cds" and record player had to go. But it was fun while it lasted!

ktappe wrote:I'm really curious where these came from. The description goes out of its way to say they are not reissues or remasters, so that implies they were pressed back in the 70's? Where on earth have they been stored all this time? Or are these new pressings? But if they are, how is that not a reissue? Inquiring minds want to know.

I imagine a cargo container that fell of a ship 30 years ago and just recently washed up on on the gulf shores of Texas, where it was spotted by a Woot staffer on the beach, who pried open a crate, to find, in amazingly pristine condition...

Just click on the battery charger thingy and the record player is there.

Looks like collectors think they are worth twice as much - and that's probably opened.

Now all we need are those usb vinyl to mp3 recorders in our next box of chorizo and we are set.

I actually owned this Disney record in 1978. Dear God, that means I'm older than dirt.

I love how the current (i.e. 15 minutes into this sale) entry in Wikipedia uses the PAST TENSE to describe the Vinyl Record

http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinyl_record

I wonder if that (and many other things) will be changed by the end of this woot sale???

This short article can be made longer. You can help Wikipedia by adding to it.

Records are friggin awesome! The look, the sound, even the smell! I think this is really cool, them not being remastered or anything. These have got to be worth way more than what woot is asking.

Records are better sound quality than cd's or mp3's.
You're probably too young to even know what a record is.

Thanks for throwing us Disney geeks a bone, Woot. I'm so looking forward to taking these for a spin.

Make fun of it all you like guys, it's a damn good collection of Disney music. Much better than the lack-luster collections released on CD in recent years. And I speak from experience: my 1978 copy of this set was purchased in 1978.

I witch about these records, but I miss the old school vinyl sound + Disney. Zippidy Doo Dah is one of the tracks I miss the most.

Vinyl Does sound better than CD's (for the most part). Too much sound quality lost due to compression.

Geez, this along with the turntable on sellout is making for a very appealing combo. Gonna be something fun to share with the old man and with my younger brothers who weren't as heavily influenced by disney as I was. To bad there isn't some of the "electric parade" music from the parades in disneyland.

Actually, by 1978, 8-track was dying, I couldn't finally ditched the reel-to-reel and switched to cassette.

Just over 10 years ago, my wife asked me if we could convert the vinyl record of her parent's wedding into a CD.

After some online research (and a few nominal cost purchases) I plugged a Radio Shack audio pre-amp output into the Line-In connector on the sound card on my windows 98 computer - and plugged my old direct drive turntable into the pre-amp.

I bought a copy of the Goldwave audio capture and editing software package, and was able to make the conversion and burn the CD. (think of it as photo editing software for audio files)

Shortly after that I connected an audio cassette deck to the computer with similar success.

Does anyone have the list of SONGS in this set? That's a big old list of movies/cartoons, etc Woot says is included so it can't be entire soundtracks. I'd love to know what music specifically is on these.
Regardless, I'm getting one anyway.

Since 4 LPs can't hold much time, safest bet is that they are medleys from all those soundtracks. It was done quite often back in the time.

I bought the USB record player from Woot a few weeks back to play a single album that I got as part of a collector's edition package(Fiction Family featuring Jon Foreman and Sean Watkins). I've been looking for more vinyl to play since then, but I wasn't expecting this.

In for one.
