would have to guess you'd need wireless N, not G, for transmitting HD. Seems a but underpowered.

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

You can use RTP with VLC, but I don't think it works over NAT at this point. It does have a Maemo client, though.

Maybe I'm confused by the "HD" in the name, but there doesn't appear to be an HDMI port. I'd definitely pick up one (or more) if it had one, but I'm not going to "downgrade" to composite, component, or S-video just to be able to zap things around the house.

That might just be me, though.

Broadband internet connectivity for remote viewing (recommended 300Kbps upstream)

I want one of these, does anyone know if it will still work well with less bandwidth??

This will be good until all the companies start to place bandwidth caps on our connections.

From what I can tell ... this is like a slingbox, except with lots lower quality.

I have a HAVA Platinum. It does what a Slingbox does. It's pretty decent, all in all. At this price, I might send one to my brother so I can get some locals at Michigan. It's hard to find a Michigan game (and Red Wings hockey) in Atlanta.

So is this basically like a SlingBox? If so what are the pros/cons of this vs that?

This is my original signature.

I bought the HAVA Gold a week ago on the sellout site ($50). Had to call support for a little help setting it up. The support guy was GREAT! Very knowledgeable (and in India). It works as it should. Wish I had this one for the HD capability. Oh well. Really does work well. Buy with confidence. Oh and it's better than a Slingbox. Read the comparisons on the HAVA site.

Enjoy...
