My first thought was does it come with a remote?

But then reading more its not a tv set top box. its just like a slingbox! Plug this into your tv/dvd/vcr/sat/etc... and then watch from anywhere in the world on your laptop or pc.

So its a cheaper version of a sling box. with the remote control in GUI form on your pc. Blah, not for me.

I'd like to know a specific on what this does...

I know Slingbox streams video from your cable/satellite to a computer, I'm assuming this does the same?

I would buy one if it can stream HD videos stored on my home PC to my home TV. I have a modified Xbox 1 (original xbox), and I use it to stream movies from my PC to my TV, however, the Xbox 1 isn't powerful enough for HD. I've been looking for a device that has a nice interface that can stream movies from my computer to my pc - in HD.

Wooty woot!!!

Well written copy... even if I don't understand how the product works, and am pretty sure I don't want to buy it. Thanks.

This seems like something I cannot Live without.

And yet at the same time, seems like something so complicated that I never wantto see the damned thing in my house.

Hmmm - torn.

I wish they would just make a box that i could hook to a cable that i do NOT have a paid cable TV connection to. and let me be able to see everything.

im so tired of 120.00 a month for Basic expanded! Its just Insane.

Well I tried recording from my computer to an external HD via fire wire and it works great. Not sure if that's what you wanted though. Don't know how you'd connect or control an HD DIRECTLY to the HAVA.

I have been following these, and this is definitely the best price I have seen on the Hava titanium with wifi anywhere. Amazon has it for $188 (lowest was ~$135 a few months ago). Best Buy had it briefly on clearance for ~$110.

This will basically allow you to view and control your set top box remotely over the internet. Your internet speeds at both locations will make a difference on your viewing quality. The main advantages this has over the slingbox solo is that this has wifi included, accepts component inputs (although for remote viewing, composite would be fine), and allows you to record to your pc. This particular TITANIUM model also allows you to add a usb hard drive and use it as a standalone dvr for remote use. The negatives are that I hear the viewing software is not quite as polished as sling.

Woot free the weasels! (f-t-w - - for-the-win)

I've been looking at one of these at the local "blue-shirt" store and the normal price was $199, and their clearance price is $109.99. I'm glad I waited since Woot now has them for $79.99!

Thanks for the great deal Woot!

It's called OTA broadcasts, if you want to do that.

Otherwise, are you suggesting that you want the cable companies to offer you service *gasp* for free?

Also, $120 for expanded basic? I'm paying $70 for full digital cable, with all the music channels and a movie package from Cox.

Do you control your box at home or just have access to it?

So if I have it at home and I'm on the road, can people still watch the TV at home while I watch online? Can we only see the same channel?

I have the Hava Gold from a couple weeks back.

These things are fantastic. I can stream video when I'm off doing laundry, waiting in lines, etc. Much cheaper than a slingbox, and if you're worried about how difficult it is to set up, it took me about 15 minutes.

I bought a bunch of stuff and all I have left is this not-very-witty signature.

Can I schedule it to change channels and record things at set times as long as I leave the PC on? I am looking for a DVR type setup, but this looks like it could be better.

Can I use it to stream back to the TV from the PC conent through wireless to the unit so I could watch said programs on the TV?

see what i mean?

wouldn't it be great if there were something where you could just get your cable tv to run if you were paying for a premium internet connection already? Just a box in between that streamed everything TV had to offer to a DVR type thing under the TV.

seems like some one could invent that.

plus Hava is going to have an iphone client within a couple months, my guess is when the OS 3.0 is released by Apple, for those who have an iphone and don't want to use the ORB app.

This device will allow you to watch tv from anywhere. So if your at work and wanna catch your favorite tv show that you would normally miss you can connect to this box and view the show. You can even change the channel on your cable box at home.

so, the only way to watch tv on an actual television with this is to get it over the internet, stream it wirelessly to your media center pc, then stream that wirelessly to your xbox 360, and then send that through the wires to the television set and watch it that way?

you can get any channel that your cable box gets for your tv. it's pretty cool! the hava player has a remote on the screen and a function to record to your hard drive. this is great for me for when i wanna watch tv in my bedroom where i have my desk top instead of the living room where my cable box tv is. i really got it after i found out i can watch tv on my iphone!! i tried it the other night at the theatre i was watching espn!! woot woot!

You need a TV source. I have the Pinnacle PCTV to Go Wireless which is essentially the same thing as this (actually it's a rebadged Hava and can work with Hava software). I set this up to my parent's house in Pittsburgh. It allows me to watch Penguins / Steelers games in NY on my computer over the internet. That's my main purpose for it. Video quality is decent (around what you'd get off YouTube) and depends on the speed of your internet connection. I've never had problems with it being choppy. I think it just adjusts the video quality depending on the speed of the connection.

I've been looking for one more of these (since i only have one cable box in my house and want to use it to watch TV in my bedroom without having to pay TimeWarner $9 a month for an additional receiver), but I haven't been able to find another one for this cheap. I'm tempted to get this.

By the way, the advantage of this over slingbox is that if your cable TV source isn't in the same room as your router, it can connect wirelessly to your 802.11g router (i've heard people having problems connecting it to routers that are not 802.11g, but that's what I have so no problems for me).
