in for 2 sets .. so given the conversion and the four bags I will have, I should be comfortable anywhere between 80 and 200 degrees F :-)

Actually, if you just type "X centimeters in inches" into google, it'll spit it out. or X calories in centijoules

I'm familiar with these and I just bought 4 more. They only weigh about 1.9 pounds and stuff in at 12" x7". So they don't take up much room at all. You'll be cold below 30 degrees with them unless you have good thermals on. If you need extra warmth you can double them up and they will work to about 10-12 degrees doubled up. Two layers thick or you can hook two together to make them larger. Great for storing in your car for emergencies.

Im so glad i bought these earlier today! ^_^

My old one crapped out and i was needing a new one. This saved me a bunch of money, and you never know when you need a bigger sleeping bag :P :D

polishp86 wrote:so how warm are these actually? northern summers in michigan can still get pretty cold at night, i see the lowest rating is at 21F but that doesn't really say how warm these are...

Since the rating goes to 21F, I can tell the manufacturer is fibbing. Sleeping bag ratings aren't that accurate and vary a little between manufacturers. And the minimum temperature rating on most sleeping bags indicates that you won't die if you are wearing all your clothes and jacket in the bag. So I would say this might go down to 35F if you want to stay somewhat comfortable.

vickybcool wrote:Does anyone know how well these would (or would not) work if they were to get wet?

Synthetic materials keep much of their warmth when they are wet. Sleeping bags made from goose down don't, since they loose loft when exposed to moisture. So you should be okay if these get wet. Maybe a little annoyed.

bobichka wrote:@WOOT

Can you please finally clarify if we're getting two bags that can be properly zipped together as the product description indicates???

(Or if someone never had to take one of those spatial thinking tests and failed to realize that unless you have a right and a left, you'll end up with a hood in your face??)

If you purchase two High Peak bags from this online retailer, they ship one Left Zip bag and one Right Zip bag as a PAIR... not sure if Woot is doing the same thing, but I'll take my chances, in for two(4).

In for 3 pairs, maximum wootness!

Two kiddos, a big backyard, midwest climate, and summer weekend camping season is a perfect storm for these. The extras will make great hardship giveaways to the cubs on their first summer camp who otherwise might not be able to go.

Plus, they're easy bring-alongs on vacation for the extra guests that always seem to show up when you're in a beachfront condo.

Now to find those foam sleeping pads to put under them for some comfort.

AFCanesFan wrote:Im not a eagle scout but I am in the military, it all depends on what time of year you plan on going out. If you are going to be going out in the summer and the night tempetures are only mild, like the 50s range, these will be great. If you are going out in spring or fall you may want to take one rated for those temperatures. It never hurts to a different bag for each season.

That was more or less the point I was trying to make.
Get one based on what you'll be doing.
Don't get a hardcore expensive sleeping bag if you're not going to be doing hardcore outdoor stuff.

First woot. Not the best sleeping bags, but for the price, seems like a great summer bag for car camping. Great if people crash at your place too. I have a nicer 3-season bag, so these will be spares for my friends.

If you don't care about being comofortable or warm, then perhaps you may want to consider these. If your well being is something you value you, however, I strongly suggest you grit your teeth and buy a decent sleeping bag from GoLite or Marmot.

I priced out Marmot sleeping bags. They're between 187.00 to 308.00. NOT everyone has the income to go to REI and put down that kind of money for a sleeping bag. IF you're just using it ocassionally for a kid's sleepover in the house or backyard, why not? If something happens to it, who cares? No, I wouldn't recommend it for serious survival backpacking, but it looks like it would be fine for anything else.

Clearly, we're all on Woot so no, we don't believe in getting what we pay for. We all believe in getting a heck of a lot more than what we pay for. I think someone needs his savings card revoked. You can go stand in the back of the "retail price" line now.
