no bringing out corpses! :-(

Oh well, still a very patriotic deal - what's more American than a big-ass TV?

I test a lot of Philips at my job and they are decent TVs. The auto picture setup in the beginning is nice for those who dont tweak there settings and the bezels are classy. However the blacks are sometimes washed out and the color is not as great as the Sonys and Samsungs. There like the Sharps but more expensive.

I have this TV great picture quality but I recommend a blue-ray DVD player to enhance it further. Love this TV

I havnt seen a philips plasma yet but going by the fact there is a 5ms response time it makes it a LCD

Plasmas dont have response times.

We could use a TV like this, but not *this one*. Here's why:

* Woot doesn't have a good record with Reefuurbs. They sell whatever they get, fixed or not. They are fine about RMAs, but who wants to pay return shipping on a 42" TV?

* Philips is also bad with Reefuurbs. They don't want to support them.

If Woot wanted to make us happy with a *new* TV at this price, even it it were 37", that would be great. As it is I suspect they are using the burrito of chorizo expectations to unload some dross.

I'm watching a 26" 720p that I paid more for than this Philips. Oh well.

Bag of Salami?

Your education has failed you.

I assume you mean burrito of chorizo, but its July 4, chances are this is one of the days that people who go to sleep before 1 AM (on the east coast) actually skip woot.

I expect the next wootoff wont be for another 3 weeks either.

Also, on topic, $600 for this "tv" is a fantastic price. I recommend you buy two and use as dual computer monitors to scare away your neighbors.

O I forgot, The speakers on this model are front firing which is nice. The upper end have rear firing speakers and if you dont place it next to a wall the sound embrangles.

you are correct also this one of the few models left that are even manufactered by philips, the new oem for the philips brand is our old pal FUNAI who makes the Sylvania's and Emersons

You know, I've always wondered, what exactly are those red, green, yellow, and blue buttons on remotes? Are they standard and does each have a specific use or are they just random colored buttons that do different things on different remotes?

K, I poked around the interwebz and found...

http://www.google.com/products?addr=54409&q=42PFL3603D&hl=en&sl=on

Basically, the lowest price outside of Woot is http://www.consumerdepot.com/products.asp?id=42PFL3603DD&referer=google Consumer depot @ 599.99... but they want 200.00 for shipping!

Sweet deal here. Wish my wife would like me buy one....

Amazing!!

How do you write a huge missive to sell a TV and never mention whether it's a plasma, LCD or "other"?!

Very impressive description Woot!

Maybe this is really a Flintstones TV and is made up of a hollowed out rock and a bird that does the announcing.

Instead of just raising one kid, this TV could raise a family (including a one dog).

(Overall signature size was getting large. Recommended signature size is 5k.)

Works great as a computer monitor (using it now) as long as you turn off most of its fancy settings. If you use a second monitor (an actual monitor) in addition to this TV, your graphics card will go a little haywire though. I've never used it for TV, but movies look great on it. Doesn't run too hot either, which is a definite plus. PC games look amazing on this TV. If there were room on my desk, I'd buy another for a truly wicked dual screen setup.
