Yes, before anyone asks, they both have HDMI. One has two HDMI inputs, the other has 3.

edit: Woah, I was first! After the bots, that is.

Was able to find a couple 5 star reviews for the 32MF338B on Buzzillions.
http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/magnavox-32mf338b-27-32-lcd-hdtv-1366x768-600-1-reviews

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

Can you really tell the difference between 780p and 1080p on a TV this size?

Would there be much of a diffrence in quality on these two? Or are they both going to be about the same quality? THe only diffrence I see between the two is the number of HDMI Ports, and the Energy Start compliance

If you are using it as a computer monitor you can.

A word of caution, if these are manufactured by Funai (who makes most of whats left of Magnavox) then if your refurb is broken good luck getting warranty work done... They are really hard to get to and sometimes you have to ship your TV overseas.

Pretty good deal here, but I don't see any difference between the 338 or the 399 aside from the additional DVI port. I hope this doesn't come back to bite me after I do some research, but why get a TV with one [less] DVI port for the same price if both models are, otherwise, effectively the same?

Is this better for Blu-Ray, or is plasma better? Which one gives the darker black?

This chart will show you that the difference in a 1080p set of the same size will only show itself to the human eye in a viewing distance between 4 and 5 feet away.

If you sit 5 feet from THIS 720p set, you would not see the difference if it were actually 1080p.

If you were sitting 4 feet or less from the set, you WOULD be able to take advantage of more resolution, assuming you were NOT like my parents, who wouldn't "notice" even if their eyesight was 20/20.

Conventional wisdom says no - you can't tell the difference until you get to a 50 inch set. (I have a 50 inch 720 that looks great, so I personally doubt you can tell at 32".)

Stands are removable (If they are like the ones at my work), You take four screws out and they slide off. I do believe they are also wall mountable if you get the correct sized mount.

I was thinking of using this as a monitor. Are you saying I would see a noticable difference, or do you think it would work well as a monitor?

Description says the 339 has HDMI input for use as a computer monitor, whereas the 338 has VGA. The 339 is listed as Energy Star 3.0 compliant, while the 338 is not. The 339 also has the feature "Dynamic Contrast gives enriched color performance" which isn't listed for the 338. Plus, they look a little different.

The 338 is 32" diagonal; the 339 is 31.5" diagonal. The 338 has a vga port if you are using it as a computer monitor, while the 339 has the extra HDMI. Important differences. Not huge differences, but important.

I repair these and have no problem getting parts- ship oversea's? never heard of that before, I have heard of them replacing sets for bad display problems etc.
these are not bad sets for the buck AND there are only really 3 boards to these sets and they are very reasonable compared to the others. the out of warranty repairs are 1/3 the cost compared to the same problems on sony, samsung, sharp etc.

The Difficult I do immediately, The impossible takes a little longer

I disagree. if you have something w true hd (360, ps3, blu-ray, etc.) hooked to a tv this size, you WILL be able to tell the diff. i would chip in the extra cash to get 1080

Well, BluRay is currently the only media I guess you would say for a TV at 1080p. HD TV is played at 720p. Of course you can go much higher on a computer.

I have the same TV (the 338B model) and absolutely love it. I bought it a year ago for $500 and still feel like I got my money's worth, so this is a steal for anyone else. Perfect sized bedroom TV.

Two problems with this W00T...

First, this is NOT a great price. I see 32" 720 LCDs at Best But all the time for this same price....

Second, the last (and only) TV I ever got from Woot was about 18 months ago and about 2 months after I got it I started having thin black vertical lines on the screen on start up that gradually faded as the TV warmed up...but this problem got worse and worse with the lines getting thicker and lasting longer, (I wonder how many 16 year olds on here will comment on the words getting thicker and lasting longer) Eventually the lines became permanent. I contacted the good folks at W00T and was basically told to go F myself, as the 30 day warranty was past. From that day on I vowed to only buy cheap or unique items from woot, something I would not be upset about breaking or dying on me.

Just my $0.02.

Plasma's traditionally give better blacks (although LCD's are fast closing the gap).

Both LCD or Plazma will look great with Blu-Ray.

The deciding factor between LCD or Plasma... has to do with your viewing habits. If the majority of your TV viewing is in a brightly lit room via windows and sunlight or artificial lighting then you should get LCD. If you watch the majority of your TV in a darken room or in the evening after dark then you should get a Plasma.
