Get a rug sweeper and just scoot it around for a couple minutes every day. You'll spend less time doing that than you'll spend moving obstacles, rescuing the robot and guiding it to its charger. Good luck if you want to use any of the advanced features.

And honestly, with a Roomba, the warranty is worth as much as the unit. I don't care how improved this is over the 4th gen models-- which it reportedly is-- you can pretty well expect this to die within 6 months.

Square Trade only kicks in after the manufacturer's warranty expires. ST's warranty has no affect on dealings with the manufacturer.

I got this a couple months ago from Woot and I am still loving it. I have a 6 year old and two cats and the floor always seems to have bits and pieces on it... paper, cat hair, etc. This works really well as a daily once over. I still think it needs a deep vacuum once a week (got a Dyson here as well for that!) but it is nice to set this out in the morning when I leave and have the living room and kitchen floors cleaned when I get home. I do clean the bin and brush after every usage. Also - as a side benefit, it got me to keep my floor clear of clutter. It has no problem going from my hardwood to the rugs to the tile in the kitchen. Mine is still running strong!

OK, I may have to finally break down and finally buy a Roomba or two or something as it seems to be the only way I'll net my additional purchases to get back to a black badge...
Hey, does this thing come in black?

I have five (5) cats, one longhair. I have oak floors and this Roomba works great. The first few times I used it I had to clean the bristles and the dustpan every ten minutes. Now it has the floors so clean I only use it once a week and clean it once. You do have to pull the pet hairs out of the bristles but if you use it weekly then it eventually isn't much at all. It even picks up the pine litter pellets. It will choke on little toy balls, though. And it will climb up on thick doormats to clean them, very strange to watch. I love it, I named mine.

Have this model the 530 and 2 older ones .. I can say the 530 is better. Had problems with the 400 series had to send 2 back. And the batteries in the 530 are better.
The older series models had to clean brushes at least every other time . this model only clean brushes once since had it, but i have a long hair cat and hair wraps around the ends of the brushes. (around the yellow sleeve caps) The roomba will start making a funny noise and that is when I know I have to clean it . About every other time using it. which is better than cleaning them brushes of the 400 series.
So I'm in for one and will use the 400 series for ,,, well I will think of something to do with it .. maybe chasing the cat..

I love my Roomba. The 530 is my second Roomba - apparently my first one didn't qualify for warranty, and when it crapped out beyond repair, I had to pony up for a brand new one from iRobot.

This model? Not as sturdy as my old model - the side brush on it was completely broken within a couple of weeks. Also, if you've got pets, you'd better get very good at dissassembling the Brush Assembly and pulling pet hair out of the gears periodically.

I miss my hardwood floors. If I still had hardwood floors, I'd consider buying a new one. On carpet? Not so much.

I got a roomba model: 4110 a few years ago from woot. It worked for about a year. During that time, I couldn't say enough good about it.
Once that first battery went, though, it just ate through the rest of them. After buying several replacement batteries, I have now spent more for the roomba than I paid for my Dyson. But the roomba is lying on its back in the garage, because the last battery (another $60+shipping) lasted less than 3 months.
I would love to get today's roomba because that first year with the 4110 was sooooo good.
But it's like that boyfriend, the one you'll never get over, but then he got into drugs and you want to believe in him so you keep taking him back but you can never let your purse out of your site when he's around because he's always trying to grab sixty bucks here and there to feed his habit.
I just can't live like that anymore...(sob)

Already got a roomba 560. However when you consider the cost of replacing brushes, filters, batteries, charger, etc,. it's a bargain just for those items. In for one.

Our roomba stopped being a luxury and became a necessity the first time we used it. If you've got hardwood or tile floors life is much better with a roomba and scooba. Roomba's don't argue, ask for days off, and you don't to reward them for doing a good job.
