So I check my email and find that woot has updated their Terms of Service. I'm dorky enough to read that kind of stuff, so I clicked and found something interesting in the preface to the terms.

It said, " blah blah blah (including woot.com, wine.woot.com, shirt.woot.com, sellout.woot.com, kids.woot.com, deals.woot.com, and any future site operated by WOOT, blah blah blah." Note the bolded text.

Okay, the "blah" parts are mine, but I didn't make up that deals.woot.com thing. It's showing a blank page right now, but what gives? Is "deals" going to be a site for especially crappy woots or something?

Let's see what else is out there.

My guess is they are going to start selling non-gadgety type stuff on deals.woot. Just a guess, though.

There is a Twitter account created...it was there at least since August 20th. No guarantee it is actually Woot's though, but I think it is. No updates and not following anyone yet. I am the only follower so far.

I received slides from a Jay Johnson (Director of Deals.woot)'s presentation on deals.woot as part of my Boggy Old Creature. I'm curious if anyone else did. It's basically paid links to one item on another site, similar to the woot side deal.

As fait would have it, this especially crappy thread has been selected for a semi-official deals.woot hijacking:

So, as you’ve seen by our feeble attempts to hide our work, Deals.Woot is indeed under development. At the moment, our developers need some help beta testing and load testing our new systems before final features and polish are applied. Word has it service companies want to charge lots of money to automate simulated users stomping around the site. While these simulated robot-users might have been good at some things, like keeping their mouths shut, they aren't so good at forming opinions. Our Solution? Let's have a free beta test party for black box wooters!

From here forward, you may see some public discussion from select black box users who will soon be invited to participate in a private beta test of the Deals.Woot platform. While there is a Q&A section on the Deals.Woot site itself, this thread will serve as backup and for general free form public discussion.

The handful of you performing early reconnaissance and posting in this thread before its hijacking will be added to beta access soon. Those of you who were black box as of yesterday and have your newsletter boxes checked should receive an invite email. Beyond that, we will have our focus on the site, making tweaks and responding to suggestions and inquiries here for a bit. When we think the site is working ok, we’ll expand the beta out to include more users.

If you’re not in yet, don’t fret – Deals.Woot is a community deals site so there’s not a lot to look at before the community goes to work. We’ll get you in here asap.

On the other hand, I've been wondering what the deals.woot.com site was going to become. It's nice to see that it's something fun and upcoming.

Oh ... and pics or it didn't happen!

I think if you were here before 2.0 and are still here, you should qualify.

Or joined in 2004.

there will definitely be value there inviting our charter and early supporters - this early small beta is filling a limited purpose for us and should spark quicker overall readiness of the site.

I imagine we'll move down to accepting purple-box wooters first though (and without much delay)
