I had mine delivered earlier today and I'm itching to get home from work and start checking it out... and then I saw all the issues posted here. Now I'm a little nervous. Did anyone find any reason as to why a few wooters received remotes?

There never was a remote. Someone was discussing which card to get from Newegg that had a remote...

Got mine yesterday. No sound from HDMI or through the speakers that came with it. it says there is, speakers work fine in another computer.

Anyone have the same problem?

From the sounds of it, I really don't want to have to call the refurb company. What happens if I contact Gateway?

Sadly I'm right there with sublime. No boot. Vist file corrupted, and no disk to insert.

I called Gateway first, they will not handle these computers. They are the ones who gave me Seneca's number.
Yep, I am supposed to ship mine to Seneca and they are going to replace it, but it will cost me to ship it there. Ridiculous!

Jared Brazil wrote:Attention everyone worried about hard drive size. The reason you see a smaller hard drive than listed is because Seneca creates a partition which has the backup files to Windows Vista.

My computer came with a bad install of Vista and Seneca Tech Support helped me to reinstall Vista through the partition. That's the reason for the issue. I would suggest anyone who has a problem logging in call Seneca and have them assist you in reinstalling Vista.

If you're really savvy I can try and relay how they had me to the re-install from the backup partition:

When the computer is on the gateway screen you press FN (The key with the blue FN letters) plus ALT and the F10 key. This will allow you to chose which device the computer boots up with. Choose the SATA Harddrive.

IMMEDIATELY once you press enter on the SATA Hard drive, hold down FN+ALT and start slamming on the F10 key. This should bring up a menu that gives you the option of reinstalling/repairing Vista. Everything from there is pressing ok. This wipes the C: drive and gives you a minty fresh Vista Install.

Good luck guys

Okay, I don't see the sata hard drive. My choices are atapi dvd, icrodrive, d-picture disk, mc disk, sPro disk and network: B02 Yukon.
No big deal, I think I am sending this pos back anyway.
What a mess!!!

If your system doesn't boot and you have a second system... go here: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

download the ISO and burn it to CD. boot off the CD and set the first (really small) partition to 'Active'

Reboot. The system will boot into the recovery software and it's all point and click from there.

This info comes with no warranties expressed or implied. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, either google or contact customer support.

Cheers,
L2

Make sure you have the right number it should star with a PT once you have put the 22 character s/n in the box hit tab because it will not automatically go on its own. If you can hit tab without it telling you that you are ineligible then you are receiving the upgrade.I am really sorry about all the people who got a bad one. I bought a new power supply and graphics card and have already put them in and the computer runs like a pro. Thanks Woot you have come through like always for me.

Finally got mine; I live in the Atlanta area and it may have been delayed by the horrible weather we've been having. So far everything works like a charm. People had me going for a while, I opened the box halfway hoping for a remote, but of course, no...

Once again, another successful Woot experience!

One thing that worked for me was to click on the volume icon, and then select the speakers as the default, rather than the HDMI output.

The manual shows there is a digital audio output on the back. Did anybody get this to work? After trying for a few hours I gave up and made my own cable to connect to the SPDIF connector on the motherboard (http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Shared/4006272R/4006272Rmv.shtml). Now I have awesome sound going to my sound system.

My upgrade worked and the computer looks brand new. This was a great deal. Sorry to hear about the people having trouble.

Was finally able to unpack and setup. Had to do a repair at start up, but everything was cool after that. The thing looked brand new, with no scuffs or non-working parts. I have not tested everything extensively, but so far so good. I also got the Windows 7 upgrade submitted with no problems. Thanks Woot!

Finally managed to meet up with the fedex guy and get my box! Got it set up and working fine on my LCD TV via HDMI. The keyboard leaps into the vacuum, but all else is well. So, those others reading, take heart, there are mostly good comps in this order from woot.
Bouts to ditch this vista install and put the Windows 7 RC on it though, too much bloatware.
Also, my serial number worked fine to get the free windows 7 upgrade. Looking forward to that in a month.

sigh... I bought this linksys EG1032 gigabit pci card... it is not getting recognized.....

I am never going to buy a refurbished computer ever again... Time to throw this computer... wasted 3 hours of my life on this paper weight and lost $300. Even installed windows 7.. did not work... then installed windows XP on it from scratch... nothing...

Tried various drivers too.. from realtek etc... nothing... I guess.. this was just not a deal for me...

Thanks for the helpful messages. My patience just ran out.

For those who want the sys on CD or DVD:
Get some blank CDs or DVDs (it only takes 3 DVDs, I recommend those).

Go to Start>All Programs>Gateway>Gateway Recovery Management

You have two options - a factory copy and a copy of the Apps & Drivers. I suggest doing both.

Store in a safe place.

Woot will not respond to my emails now, so they have lost yet another customer. Not good for them.....

I know that some people are having problems with their systems, but I'm happy to report that mine appears to be just fine. I expect that people who are having troubles will post here for ideas and/or help, and I have done the same thing in the past when it was *my* turn. But I'm guessing that the folks who got a working system - which are probably a large majority - have been relatively silent. Call it the "squeaky wheel" theory.

I was able to submit for the free upgrade to Win 7. The URL for that again is:

http://www.gateway.com/win7upgrade

Go ahead and skip to Step 2 - Step 1 is just a list of upgradable systems, and ours *is* on the list. As recommended previously, go very very slowly through the upgrade screens. Be prepared to click and wait for the site to catch up to you.

My turn with a question. I'm familiar with LightScribe, but LabelFlash is new to me. I don't recall ever having seen or heard of it until now, and I certainly don't remember ever sighting media. Where does one get LF media, and shouldn't I be seeing some software somewhere to *do* LF?

LAST FIVE WOOTS:
04/12/13 Eye-Fi Mobile 8GB Wireless Memory Card - $35
03/01/13 Powerbag 3000mAh Charging Bag - $40
02/21/13 Canon Wireless AIO Printer - $50
02/21/13 3M HD Camcorder Projector - $80
11/10/12 Alaratec Charge-Glo 30-pin Sync Cable (x3) - $5 ea

Well, I got the upgrade to work, I don't know what I did differently...if you are having problems make sure you are using the zero's instead of the o's

I'm real happy with the computer, it's virtualy silent and a whole lot faster than our 6 yr old gateway!!! still have that jizz issue on the keyboard

well my has been running flawlessly until today, the locks up when using HDMI, but I think it may be a PSU problem. It running through the vga cable now and runs like a top...I would suspect, if I upgraded the PSU, the HDMI problem would go away. Im still happy with the purchase though!

Finally got the internet working on this machine. I went to radioshack and bought another ethernet card, this time that works thru usb. Now can someone help me install the rear fan. The rear fan is not working. I bought a new one and I do not know where to connect it. Can someone post a pic. of their connection of 3 pin fan connector and where it is connected to on the motherboard.

Thanks,
Arjun

I contacted the refurb company about my front bezzle being broken and they can't do anything about it except want me to ship the computer to them and wait for a replacement, however looking at what bad experiences everybody else had, I think i'll live with a broken front bezzle.
