I can't tell for sure, because I only have XP2000 registered with XPAL, not an XP 18000 (which I don't own but would like to get as back up for my Netbook and Notebook). Anyone with more experience know for sure?

The 900A power adapter says 12 volts on it (I bought one of the refurb 900a's a few months back). This battery puts out 10.5V from one port and 19V from another. If a 900A tip is available, maybe it steps down the 19V to 12V. It could also be that this battery is just inappropriate for the 900A.

The 900A and 900 are NOT the same. I don't know if they use the same power adapter but I do know that they use different batteries. The 901 battery is different from either of the above.

There are places making 8 cell batteries for EEE PC's, that bulge out the back of the EEE but I think are still less hassle than an external pack. Dealextreme has them for the 701/900 and the 901, 1000, etc., but they're harder to find for the 900a. Here is one for the 900a, where I don't know anything about the vendor:

http://www.mini-laptop-accessories.com/10400mah-al22703-asus-eee-pc-900a-battery-black-p-1662.html

I found it through searching http://www.google.com/search?q=10400+mah+eee+900a

They also have them on ebay.

Note that is 10400 mah at 7.4 volts (almost certainly eight 18650 cells) which is about 75 WH, so it actually has slightly higher capacity than this XPal (18000 mah at 3.7 volts).

I will guess that the xpal battery has two of the big flat 9ah lipo cells like this inside:
http://www.batteryspace.com/polymerli-ioncell37v9000mah809797-1c333wh9arate-ullisted.aspx

or possibly three similar cells of 6AH. In fact I wonder if there's three cells and the "10.5V" output is unregulated, ranging from 10.5 to 12V or so.

They did sell the SP2000 (Harry II) about a year ago. It was the older version with the tiny charging port. The new ones have a mini usb charging port. The one I bought charged my Palm T3 about 3 times on one charge.

Thanks for the suggestions. The product page for Xpal says the blue output on this is 16-20V and the green one is 9-12V. I may write Xpal tech support. (Maybe this will sell out by then and I won't have to decide...)

Can I charge this with a solar panel like http://www.amazon.com/Sunforce-50022-Battery-Trickle-Charger/dp/B0006JO0TC ?

Its output is 12v I believe, but this thing wants 19.

So this wouldn't be allowed on planes at all? That is pretty much the use I am looking for.

Us so-called "Users of PCs", which by the way is 90% of us, rule the friggen world. Mac users think that you are so much better than everyone, because you use an aerodynamic overpriced computer with next to no software available for it.

You always see posts here asking "Does this work on a Mac?", the answer is NO, nothing works on a Mac, everything is built for a PC. So continue to think that you are better than us, and continue to pay 3 times what we pay for the same schwag (if you can find it).

Just answered my own question:

FAA forbids carrying on batteries with over 8 grams of Equivalent Lithium Content. They state that 8 grams ELC is in a 100WH battery. This is a 90WH battery, so it should be fine on planes.

You guess correct.

Originally, I was going to go with a pocket sized cold fusion reactor...but had second thoughts as it occurred to me the steam engine might be an easier sell. Apparently, (since you bit) it was.

There are no guarantees that some dork at the airport won't rule against you, but this is much like a back up battery for your notebook and I would stick to that story. and print out he specs to take with you. BTW this is a Lithium Polymer which contains a gel rather than a liquid which is more stable than Li-Ion.

For the record, the TSA considers lithium-polymer in the same way it considers lithium-ion.

From http://safetravel.dot.gov/definitions.html#lithium_ion (emphasis added):

Lithium Ion Batteries. These are rechargeable lithium batteries, like the ones found in cameras, cell phones, laptop computers, and radio-controlled toys. Lithium polymer batteries are a kind of lithium ion battery.

Roboram wrote:It has a tip for the iPhone, but I take it that won't work with an iPod. Or will it?

If it's an actual tip to plug into iPhone, then it should work with all other iPods. I use my iPod & iPhone cables interchangeably with all of ours (iPhone 3GS, iPod Nano 4G & 3G, iPod Mini) and they all charge.

If for some reason the "Phone tip (Apple...)" doesn't work with your iPod, plug the iPod cable into the USB charging tip.

Can anyone tell me if this would be able to power 2 devices both with the current specs:
Input Power: AC90V~240V, 50Hz/60Hz full range power input, Consuming power: <25 watts?

If so what would be the estimated time duration for a fully charged battery?

Any thoughts?

A small steam engine to power the dynamo is all you need.

Think about it...you'll already be carrying water and fuel to burn should be readily (and freely) available along the roadside. The only other thing you would need is a match - and it doesn't hardly weigh a thing (easily less than a pound).

"micro wind belt"s and miniature windmills...bah, tomfoolery!

I'm working on some calculations to replace my gas-hog engine in my car with a servo, how many of these would it take to achieve highway speeds and performance. I realize that I would have to separate the circuits with diodes and such, maybe I'll just start out with an electric motorcycle. what tip should I go with for minimum impedance loss. Also I need to know the impedance of the speakers and such as in the Iraq and foreign countries like Japan if they have maps and such as.

Unlikely that any production vehicle achieves highway speeds. You might look at electric bicycle for ideas.
