I'm too young to have ever had a land line of my own. My parents had one once...
Got mine set up after purchasing them from here a short while back. I'm actually fairly impressed with the features on these. My work-assigned phone is pretty good due to living on teleconferences, but these have some extra features even IT doesn't have.

I bought this refurb on Woot several years ago - worked for about a year and then started rebooting the base unit when someone called - other than that it worked fine.
Got this a couple weeks ago on woot, it's a good phone if you are doing Magic Jack. You can plug the main one in by your computer and turn off the ringer. Then set the other handset whereever you want, it doesn't have to plug into a jack. I can check the machine from it and don't have to deal with the base set at all since our desktop is hidden away in the guest room.
