These Eton radios get good reviews. I have the FR405 that I like a lot. It's no longer made. The main limitation is that the NOAA radio can't be programmed to broadcast only certain kinds of alerts (who needs a hurricane alert in South Dakota?) nor can they be programmed to cover only a specific county - you get a larger area.

Is it just me or does the back of the seat in the kids.woot thumbnail look like the face of an angry gopher?

I'd been wanting a weather radio for awhile, decided to get this last time it was offered. Got it today actually!! Very nicely made, seems solid - even the crank. Lots of bells / whistles, but the basics are all there and done pretty nice... Just picked it up and was playing with it when this came up.

Comes with the rechargable battery, fully charged from what I can see. Plugged it in, turned it on and the weather came right up. AM radio seems pretty good, FM radio pretty nice. Definitely not a JAM box, but well made for an emergency radio/flashlight... LED lights are bright, more diffuse than anything, definitely not a focused beam.

Overall pretty pleased with it!!

Jus got my ETON Today, Best Radio I've ever bought so far. Great reception AM and FM. The crank works well if ur in an emergency. as long as u crank it it WILL power on with no batteries

It's a decent radio, and woot's price is in line with other sites as well.

I have an idea, think they could sell the monkey WITH the lights. That would be such-a-deal. They would never want to take that kind of loss.

FRS is free, the GMRS "requires" an FCC license, but when I had my GMRS license, I heard exactly 0 others who ever id'd with a call sign. bought three of these a week or so ago when they were on here. got them yesterday.

reviews on here made them out to be crapola, but after i tried mine out, i was definitely impressed, and glad that I didn't spend the $150 retail (each) that places like radio shack want for them.
