Will the prepaid card need to be sent the the same address that the headset is shipped to?

Typically they allow you to write the address you want the rebate sent to. I've never had any issues with sending to my own address even if I've had something delivered elsewhere. The only restriction is normally you can't send it to a PO Box.

only thing that leaps into the vacuum is that these 'christmas presents' will be missing a piece of the box where barcode used to be.

I do find it interesting that all over the web this particular model is offered with a $10 mail in rebate. Sure we've got $20 on this woot?

Another way to look at it: 3 costs the same as 1, $5. Pay shipping on one, get all three for free...

Btw woot - Your picture of the On/Off switch actually shows the volume rocker. The On/Off switch is visible in the main picture on the loop side of the earpiece.

(And why is this called a 'Headset' when there's only one?)

I'm wondering the same thing; rebates are always tricky since the companies really don't want to pay them.

I got a MIR in the form of a Visa gift card once, and I can't remember exactly what the restrictions were, but there were definitely significant limitations on what classes of retailers would accept it. Definitely not gas stations, and IIRC, not any online merchants. This rendered the card almost useless to me, which I would think was the point. I think I managed to spend most of what was on it (but not all) before it expired, which these things do. They are definitely designed to make getting the money off them almost impossible.

Of course, *this* rebate card might be different...

Well, it's true that the Visa gift card works a little differently than a credit card. Here's how Visa explains it:

hope this helps...

I've already owned this Bluetooth headset. It's not Jawbone quality, but it's actually surprisingly comfortable and good quality for the price. And seeing how you get a $20 mail in rebate and you pay $19.99 plus shipping, this is a stellar deal for you first time Bluetooth headset users.

I used this headset for 3 weeks and it was awful. It is VERY HARD to hear on it. The earpiece was very fragile. It's honestly scaffolding and a waste of money. You miss most of the conversation when you try to use it. I bought a much better one afterwards and I could hear perfect. My phone is a Samsung Eternity so it should have worked since it is the same brand.

i must be nuts. this summer i got the jawbone2 headset thru woot an lemmetellya i love it. i musta been nuts then not to get 2, one for my wonderful and deserving wife, but i may have been suffering from residual spending-lecture syndrome and hence found a false economy... so, i'm in for THREE - what, am I nuts? not entirely - i will use the rebates so these little stocking stuffers - well, they won't fill much stocking but they will earholes, either for the wife and kids or, if murphy's law prevails, having just bought these woot will soon bring back the jawbone2 one more time, and say, isn't it about time we had our fix - the Bone Of Convention if you please...
and if so, i will have spares, perhaps to keep one in each car like the man said.

But for $4.97, how can ya go wrong? You'd be nuts not to do it!

Umm... that's the Multifunction Button, which on this model DOES NOT control the power. Looking at it from the front, the Volume Rocker is on the left, while the charging jack and the On/Off (Power) Button is on the right.

If YOU don't know, you shouldn't post. I'm far from one to toot my own horn, but there's a small reason why I have just a few Quality Posts.

What I do is just call up AT&T and apply the visa gift cards to my bill. That way I use up every last cent, and then I get my bill paid at the same time.

I didn't have a first mistake. And the 'set' comment was sarcasm, as it always has been when that question is asked. You know, the same clever repartee that makes us question parking in the driveway, and driving on the parkway...

But if you really want an answer, I don't refer to my television as a 'set'.

No, I'm not. Why do you think that? Because for the very first time I've made a point of referencing my Quality Posts? The staff at woot! has apparently decided I've earned them because I can intelligently answer a question, point people in the right direction, or express a concern which may affect the purchasing decision of a prospective buyer.

I'm not paid by anyone to attempt to provide helpful answers. I find it enjoyable to do the research necessary to answer a lingering question. It's my nature to be helpful to our fellow man, which is exactly the reason I work in healthcare, and I take an awful lot of pride in what I do whether it's my career or finding the correct answer to post here.

Great idea. And rather ironic, potentially using something for your phone to pay for your phone bill.

zwizer25 wrote:$20 Visa gift card? Why can't they just mail a check? I know it is the same in the long run but that always bothered me for some reason.

There's a better chance that consumers will forget the gift cards, especially since most don't have a printed day of expiration (the exp date is often printed in the letter holding the card). Unlike a check, where consumers receive the complete rebate once deposited, gift cards (aka debit cards) are used bit by bit. Each time you place it back in your wallet is another chance that you'd forget about it. There's a high probability that the card will expire before it is completely spent -- especially since there is no indicator to let you know how much money is left. I, for one, have never completely used a card and a few cards have expired completely unused.

This is one reason I DETEST holiday gift cards and consider them a huge consumer scam. Why not just give cash? It doesn't lock the recipient into any particular store and there are no "maintenance fees" or expiration dates. My cash gifts always include something extra like a bunch of scratch-off lottery tickets, or a challenging enclosure. My favorite is the Bilz Maze, where you have to guide a ball around a 2 level 3D maze before the cash drawer will open. They also make a pinball enclosure.

I always place some kind of "official" label over a missing barcode before giving the item as a gift. For example, you can rip the shipping labels off other boxes and glue it over the barcode space. Or simply buy some printer adhesive labels and put official gobbly-gook on it, i.e. "Quality Inspected #54AVK" or "US Model / Not for Export," or "Free Feminine Product Inside"...

Is it ethical? Yeah, cuz you enhance the recipient's delight by not revealing that you were frugal with the gift. And frankly, the gift is no worse than if there was no rebate.

Speaking of expiration dates, look carefully for the date on those Visa gift cards. Look on the card, or the letter that comes with it, or check it using a provided URL.

Last rebate Visa gift card I got started with only 60 days until expiration, and some of those days were lost to mailing it to me, and then some more when I didn't bother to open the envelope right away. Everywhere I took it, they wouldn't accept it.

I finally found someone that would take it, but it got rejected for being expired. THEN I checked the date using the URL. I was one day too late.

Heh. I'm not kidding when I say that something is in the image, although it's hardly the secret to life or the universe (email me for the answer if you can't see it). Seriously, stare at it closely, with your eyes focused ahead. It is an animated version of those 3D random dot stereograms that were popular in the 90's. I usually see the hidden images within seconds.
