SO I wonder what has been refurbished on this. The grinder? Grind me up.

These are a mess. We had one for years. It is a real pain to clean - not the filter, but the grinder.

The price is good, but you probably want to stay away.

I use this exact same coffee maker everyday and I love it! I use paper filters because it's a pain to clean, but that carafe keeps the coffee hot for about 3 hours. Great since I work out of my home.

I've been at this nearly 9 hours now, but I have to go to a meeting... Boo! Sell more poker sets while I'm gone, woot.

2cents:

I have this exact coffee maker - I love it. It's five years old. The grinder is loud and messy, but you don't have to use it. The gold tone filter also can be swapped out for paper if you'd like.

The thermal carafe is AWESOME - keeps the coffee warm for hours.

And, this is about $100 cheaper than it was 5 years ago.

We had one for a while, not sure it lasted a year. The grinder bowl is an interesting mixture of metal and plastic that wore out too soon.

It is a great coffee pot, but it is loud. Also my parents have one, but the grinder broke so they had to get a stand alone one. I don't know if this a problem for a lot of people but these are refurb and not much can go wrong on a coffee pot.

I love mine- Bought 2 from woot several weeks ago and has made the best cup of i have had

- cons: confusing to use
Hard to clean
Wish base stayed heated

- Pros
Awesome filter
Tastes like just coffee not all the chemicals in tap

I have one of these and hardly every use it for a number of reasons:

1) Steam from the carafe wafts up into the grind chamber and makes it hard to clean
2) No warming plate under the carafe (coffee gets cold pretty fast)
3) Very slow pour from the carafe
4) Lots of parts to clean

I think there are more reasons, but as I hardly ever use it, I can't remember them all right now. ;)

This is a nice coffee maker. I have the same model except with a glass carafe, and it makes a great pot of coffee. The grinder does make a decent amount of noise when it runs for about 30 seconds to grind the beans, but any grinder is noisy. There is also a fair bit of cleaning involved after each pot of coffee as you need to clean the grinder out. But that's true if you were using a stand-alone grinder anyway.

I bought this off woot the last time they had it for sale and I am glad I did. We love it and the grinder is great. You have to clean it after every use but that's no big deal. I just rinse it off and then wipe it dry with a paper towel...after every few uses we wash it in soap and water. This is a great deal. I also use paper filters and we love the design. Our old coffee pot when we threw out the filter would leak (the filter holder) but because this has the spot that only pours when the coffee pot is in place, no leak on the way to the trash.

I throw the parts in the dishwasher when I feel they have gotten too grungy. I have people tell me different info on the gold filter, but we tested it at work and saw no problem with washing it in the machine rather than by hand. I have an older white model (this one was 150 when I bought it) and it IS loud, but I love it! Scares my cats in the morning.
