I bought a USB DVD drive and it works great. Only add it when needed.

I find the keyboard a bit small. I end up doing two finger typing. I added a minimouse because I didn't like the small mouse pad thingy.
Some websites complain about the small screen.
Love it otherwise.

dkuchta5 wrote:Can you add something to this to get it to a 6-cell unit? If so, how much does it cost?

Absolutely - the battery is a separate modular unit that plugs into the back of the netbook and can be hotswapped easily. (They advise you to take it off anyway if you're going to be running on AC power for a while post-charging, among other situations.)

As to how much it would cost, I don't know for sure, but the average figure I'm seeing quoted is around $50-60, for anywhere between 6 and 12 cell batteries depending on source.

I've tried using this one... if you have normal man-sized hands get ready for a challenge. It's really not that comfortable to use, and all the laptop bags and carrying cases are fitted for the larger ones.

Which only works for Windows 7 images, I just tried it on a windows XP iso and it would not accept the iso file.

My hands are fairly big and I don't have that much trouble. Of course, I've adapted to typing on my tiny cell phone keyboard, so the Aspire One's keyboard seems gigantic by comparison.

Don't yell at the refurb. I've bought tons of refurbed electronics and none have failed me. The only thing bad about them is when there's only a three-month warranty, even though I've yet to use warranty service at all.

So, yay refurb! BUY BUY BUY!

Get a case made for those small portable DVD players. Works perfectly for mine.

After I posted my last post I thought about that. WOOT! has some sort of Netbook available every couple weeks and there are always a few included in every WOOT! off. Maybe they finally sold a netbook to EVERYONE who checks their website.

This is a good deal for what it is. No matter how you look at it you might find a better deal but not by much.
Here is the price new:

I think if you have a kid going off to school or a need something for casual surfing around the house this is great. Just think of how you plan on using it.

Love the one I got earlier this year so much I ordered a second a week ago. Mine are both 6 cell battery, not the 3 cell, but excellent price nonetheless.

My only complaint is that the screen has a pretty strong glare, which can be a problem outside or in a particularly bright room.

And I have not tried to upgrade to Windows 7, so I can't give feedback on that.

Otherwise, very lightweight, I regularly watch videos on Hulu with no problem, and does everything I need it to do. I keep a USB flash drive on my keychain which substitutes for a disc drive in most cases. The only thing I cannot do is watch a DVD.

I keep my ibook for any graphics work and the disc drive. Doing graphic design on the tiny screen would be impossible, and once in a while I want to upload music from a CD.
