There's a technical explanation that I got from an IT person last time...it was lengthy and completely forgettable. The upshot is that if you restart your computer, the lights will be flashing again, at least for a little while.

If that were the case, would these not be marked as new and not as refurbished? Refurbished in a monitor makes me think it's missing pixels. Can't think of another reason to have hundreds of these returned otherwise.

I may be wrong here, but I thought that HDMI and DVI supported the same signals. The only difference being is that HDMI also allows for the transmission of audio.

The speakers on monitors generally stink so I don't see why this would be a killer problem.
