You are misinformed. I bought a Hauppauge Tuner. It came with Windows software, then I used eyeTV software on my Mac and it works great. I just spent $29.00. Enjoy your overpriced Elgato.

If i shut off my TV part of cable and give them back all these dvr boxes and just keep my internet on - then i hook something like this to a connection that my internet is also hooked up to and get TV through my computer connection? and also be able to record and all that like I do now with DVR?

I gotta know this - see i am getting RAPEDEVERYMONTH just for basic expanded. and star gate is over now so what's the point?

USB 2.0 has a transfer rate that is so high, that it is not even fully utilized, so no, it does not lower the resolution.

I've sold a few woot-off items that were definitely "click first, think later" purchases; haven't really made a profit, but i also haven't lost any money yet.

I consider woot's prices to be more like "what a reasonable person would actually pay for this item/the actual worth of the product" without some of the middleman overhead than really a "steal."

Yep, I'm using this Pinnacle Ultimate stick with XP-Pro and the crummy Pinnacle Software. The model I have is the Ultimate that I bought here last December. I also have another one I bought here (maybe an 801 or something like that.) and it does CC too. It's the button just to the left of the volume on the TV frame. I use that when I'm on the phone and I need to mute the volume.

Sounds good for the most part, but I am unsure of basic cable. I talked to time warner and they said it would work with basic cable. They aren't the best with any part of customer support/technology/etc. so I'll see how it goes.

All of the Pinnacle sticks use the same software to view and record TV. Make sure you have the most current version. The button to turn on CC is just to the left of the volume slide in the bottom section of the frame.

USB2.0 theoretically goes up to 480mbps(60MB/s). 1080i off a normal Digital station is around 8-9mbps(1.1MB/s). So you're fine.

I have a non-HD version of this, it works well, I have a TV in my office now so I don't really 'need' it on my computer but when WOOT is practically giving them away I was definitely in for one. Now I can watch two TV's in my office, and have it for work where we have no TV.

Unfortunately some of us have carpy phones. While I wish I had an IPhone or Blackberry or Palm, I can't quite commit to a 1 or 2 year contract. I'm on a Post-pay account with Cricket I've had it so long.(2001 or 2002) Some say i have comment issues but I say I don't like signing a contact that says (insert phone Co. here) gets my money or get rapped with late fees....

Edit: I forgot to mention I have a Samsung SCH-R430 MyShot.

This works with Desktop or a Notebook. You can buy at Fry's or other electronics stores for $60.00 ish. Woot's deal is awesome and it does work for Windows 7 according to ATI. Also you get digital channel on your PC because computer are beyond HD; just need to make sure your antenna is HD.
P.S. Let us wooters know if anyone's order shipped yet.
