Not Bad. How long will the battery last with it full on, I wonder?

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

They were selling this at best buy for a while for 100 bucks more. Looks like a sweet netbook to me. Wish I could afford it.

Does this have one of those extra large batteries that gives the back of the netbook an extra "lift"?

Netbooks dont have those. Bites, I know but that helps in battery life and compactness.

I had an Acer notebook with only a 1GB hard drive. It couldn't update itself without running out of memory. Pathetic.

That being said, this is the computer I looked at afterward. I'll be debating this one for a few hours...

I bought one of these a few months back. Happy with it overall, but the wifi had some troubles. Here's how I got it working in windows. No luck with wireless in Ubuntu 9.10 either, but everything else works fine.

Battery gets almost 4 hours with the screen turned down. Keyboard is full size, and is very easy to type on. Much better than the 10" netbooks I tried.

Runs Windows 7 like a champ, the 2 GB of ram is great.

Nope

Head-to-head comparison with the comparable Acer Netbook:

its a six cell, expect between 4-6 hours of battery life.. good buy

and yes the battery will give the little lift, sticks out a bit

Nope, you have to use the USB port with a flash drive on netbooks to transfer programs/files. Helps make it more portable.

Could this be turned into a "Hackintosh"?

EDIT: As was pointed out - AMD processor, no Mac support for AMD stuff.

hooray beer!

Interesting - it's a hybrid of a netbook and laptop, in both size and power. Perhaps a good choice for a college student...

Doesn't the fact that it has Vista Home Basic mean it's not eligible for a Windows 7 upgrade?

nice netbook for the price but the older 1.2 amd processor is sad to see, why would gateway use this why not new atom processors 1.6 at least

with vista itll be sluggish im sure

namorama

Ooh, it's kind of like a netbook, but kind of not really.

It's 11"--bigger than your run-of-the-mill netbooks.
It's got Vista--the specs are too high for Microsoft to approve selling XP with it.
It's got AMD--it'll be snappier than Atom counterpart.
It's got 6-cell battery--it SHOULD have a good battery life if mated to Atom netbooks; alas, it's an AMD. The battery life would not be impressive, most likely.

And here's a review, of sorts:

Google Shopping

More expensive elsewhere, although the new crop of 11.6" with dual cores are out now, they are hot, but twice as much $$$.

I wouldn't suggest this for anything much more intense than word processing, surfing the net, and listening to music.

I have this! I really like it. Don't use it for anything too complicated but it's great with the basics. I can get about 7-8 hours out of the battery with great performance which is lovely for when I'm on the go.

Does this qualify for any kind of Windows 7 upgrade?

"They" say Windows 7 is easier on the single processors. I'm currently running Vista on a Celeron.....wheee.

I stayed up. Again.
