EXCUSE ME!!! I happen to take morbid offense to the theatre reference. I happen to be a high school student in school plays. I would hope that there wouldn't be a dad (or mom for that matter) who would take a portable DVD player to a show. I mean, seriously, 12.1 Inches, that would annoy the crud out of everyone within like a 5-seat radius. I liked the attempt at an analogy woot!, but all I can say is "ouch". Oh, and I loved the Simpsons allusion. Bravo!

so does this come with a battery pack or what? do you always have to plug it into something? if so, doesn't that defeat the purpose of portability?

right now i have a 17" lcd and it's alright i guess... i'm tryin to get a CRT for the crisp picture... know what i'm talking about? CRT is the way to go for quality things.. such as games and movies!! AND ANIME!! who here watches bleach and naruto?

This looks really good. And it does have a tv tuner, which I don't think most laptops have. And I wouldn't want my kids to have to hold a laptop to watch a movie on the plane.

I have a Mintek portable dvd player and it sucks, but it was cheap. I would consider paying more for something that is a better brand and hopefully higher quality. Too bad I don't have money for this right now.

Wading through all of the "nice, but too much $$$" and "wooterific" is too time consuming on some of these items where you want to try to evaluate the item quickly, especially if you are checking it out later than 12:02. I know, I could check elsewhere, but I always like to see fellow wooter's opinions because some of you folks are the ULTIMATE gadget buyers. Maybe there should be 2 threads, one with post that relate to the product performance or value, and one for woot "shout outs". I know, I'm a jerk for talking about this issue, probably make the whiners list. don't hate me. hehe, I doubt if anyone will even get this far, it's 12:11 and this post will wind up on page 7!
concerning the DVD player, I'm afraid my 2 yr. old son would put his big foot through the screen as he is constantly trying to break my seat off the bolts by pushing as hard as he can against it. maybe in a few years....

This thing got horrible user reviews on both epinions.com & amazon.com. I would stay away, especially for that price.

this thing's like a BIG PSP with no games. . . I mean it'll play movies (don't have to convert them like you do the psp), and you can fit a TON of mp3's on a DVD so it works like one of those media center mp3 players by iriver or archos or whatever. Kinda missing the camera and recording capabilities, but makes up for it with the huge screen and cool speakers.

Oh well, not for me, but I like it better than other portable dvd players on the market. . . personally, I'll stick with using a laptop if I need a portable dvd-player this big! :)

Day 2 of my Woot boycott...I might have bought this, but since Woot managed to both overcharge my credit card and cancel my order for no reason while ignoring my emails begging them to fix the problems, I guess they're out $299.99. Bummer.

i understand why you seem upset but come on, its woot we are talking about. woot uses these meaningless sayings not to offend. this really goes out to all who got offended...GROW UP AND REALIZE THAT THE WORLD IS NOT FAIR!!!!!!!

I learned to stay away from anything audiovox a long time ago. Maybe they have gotten better, but if cell phones are any indication, they have not. I have a friend that works in a cell phone tech repair place for one of the major carriers. He HATES audiovox crap. Sees it all the time.

At this price, I CANNOT see it selling out. But other, less attractive, more expensive woots have surprised me. For $300, just to have the function of a dvd player, I would rather take that cash, save my lunch money for a couple weeks, wait for one of those kick ass specials and pick up the cheapest gateway or dell laptop and have the same ability PLUS solitaire and the choice of on-the-roam internet surfing.

My .02 worth.

No way I could justify that kind of money for such a small screen. Would be great to sit on my desk next to my computer but I can just use one of my dual monitors for that., but still, way too small.

Yea, and if you wanted to do that really, you can pick up a 17" Dell Flat Panel for around $230 when they are having a certain monitor special - I got two just the other day for that price. But off-brands are even cheaper than that these-a-days.
