So...does this output to real AVI, or does it package it in some windows only packaging...cause the last one I got that was like this had to be hacked to work with mac...

Is this better then the FLIP camera I bought on here a while back? Part of me wants to keep the FLIP I got as a gift for X-mas for myself and replace it with something else

Is AVI a decent file format for HD video? I don't think I've ever seen a nice, hi-res AVI video clip...

It's just an SD card, so pretty cheap.

This seems to be a pretty decent price. I have used one of these briefly before, and it performs fairly well (don't expect too much - you get what you pay for).

In my opinion, it seems the money would be better spent investing in a point and shoot digital camera with some video abilities. That way you get the benefit of zoom (don't let the description fool you - digital zoom is like taking it on your PC and blowing it up, not the same as optical zoom) and improved still shots. Not to mention you've only got one thing you need to carry around. Either that, or invest in a better digital video cam that will record in 1080 at 60 fps. Just my two cents...

Also considering this just as an audio recorder. I want to tape live concerts but I always always always get horrible clipping when I try to record via cell phone. I'm guessing this will have similar audio quality, or lack thereof.

Reviews at Radio Shack aren't that great...apparently sound quality is an issue...may not be compatible with a Mac...seriously...

try this again. there's a product manual available here.

Let's sum it up:

1. It has motion detection feature - starts recording when sees motion... When does it stop? When motion ends, or it keeps going?

2. It can record in low light - How low?

3. Can it work off the power line (with charger plugged in) as opposed to off the battery?

Now - if the answers to these are all satisfactory, this may actually work as a low budget security camera! Or can it?

On these types of cameras, The zoom is not that good. It gets quite blurry.

How much more memory would a 10 minute HD video take up than a 10 minute regular definition video?

Anyone know how wide the framing is on this?

Thinking about pulling the trigger if it's wide like the Creative Vado instead of tight like the Flip Mino.

Now that is interesting. I suppose this would make a nice dash-cam, if anybody needed that.

And no optical zoom, but it is only $50. Anybody know if the digital zoom is a smooth zoom, or does it skip as it zooms in?
