In other words, it should be fairly fast to get an confirmation email. So if I placed an order around 4:30pm I should of got an email by now?

Thanks

I picked up the D150/6 cell from Woot a month or so ago. I love it but personally wouldn't want one with the shorter battery life.

However, I was looking at buying a cd/dvd rw drive for myself -and- my husband just said he wants a netbook like mine (and battery life didn't matter), so in for one.

I just checked and my woot email confirmation came within minutes of my paypal confirmation. I placed my order about 30 minutes before you.
Did you check your junk mail/spam folder?

Nothing in the spam folder. I'm afriad to place another order. Don't want a second one by mistake. How long did it take for it to go into the My Account?

or if they have a MacAir that doesn't come with a CD drive. It'd be a perfect drive! I have hooked an external cd drive into my macbook once or twice (i have an LG that's newer than the laptop so if i burn something big i use the external since it's faster) and it's kind of weird, because it doesn't....do anything....when you plug it in. nothing shows up, nothing tells you it's working. But if you put a disc in it works fine and the CD shows up on your desktop as usual!

Very difficult to repair. Compact flat keyboard. Overheating issues. Small screens. Get yourself a regular desktop.

I own this netbook and am very happy with it, (especially once I upgraded the memory). I have looked into Win 7 and it will handle it. While I haven't yet made the jump, (time & money), I did find this blog entry about it that you may also find interesting.

http://eeepc.net/review-windows-7-on-the-acer-aspire-one/

Even if you don't upgrade to Win 7, this is a nice little computer to have. I have the 6 cell battery for longer life, but I don't have the kit. That USB optical drive could sure come in handy.

One note about the warranty. When I bought mine, I got two. One came with a cracked screen. Calling the company covering the warranty was painless and quick to respond. Just be sure to take it out of the box as soon as you get since you only get 90 days.

I came, I shopped, I left happy.

purchased this for my kids for christmas. They just use the internet and a web-based email. I did just buy the extended warranty. Thank you for posting the information on that.
Saw the unit in BJ's today. Looks cute. I think it will be a great size for smaller hands.

I disagree, new items need a year where as a refurb does not. This is because new, they only test about 1 every 100, (or whatever). The refurb has generally been fully tested before being sent back out, no matter what the original problem was that sent it in. This is what I was told by a service tech that worked on refurbs, so I had no reason to doubt him.

FYI

http://windows.microsoft.com/systemrequirements

If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:

* 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
* 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
* 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
* DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

so suuuuure bare minimum reqs are met
but I wouldnt try to use Win7 with a mere 1gb
netbooks only (most of them) support 1.5gb total unless they are some of the 10" (which this is, but not all 10" netbooks support 2gb...some do...)

point being, yes it should but you couldnt push your system too hard or else the overheating will occur and you'll burn up your lap and the (lap)top

cheers

Specifications:

* Processor: Intel® Atom™ Processor N270, (512KB L2 cache, 1.60GHz, 533MHz FSB)
* Chipset: Mobile Intel® 945GSE Express

someone SUPER interested in this topic would have to google around for Netbooks made by Acer, with these 2 specific specs, just to find out if this netbook being offered does/doesnt support more than 1.5gb

im not buying one, but thats how you'd find out if you wanted to know ;)

I have one and am using it right now! The accessories are great and the netbook itself is fantastic for travel. You do get a lot of comments on how small it is, which you stop noticing after a while.
As far as the battery life goes, I know some people are saying it's very short, but... well, just to give you an idea, I'm not plugged in and haven't been for several hours. I haven't been actively using it, but it's been on and open and in power-saving mode. Right now, I have 3 hours left and that's about 60% (according to the battery meter on the low-bar.)
The screen can be a bit small if you're trying to look at "the big picture" (i.e. enlarging the shirt.woot designs) but it's rarely a message. I run Chrome instead of Firefox and find that it gives me a lot more browser-viewing room.
The keyboard can seem a bit small at times (I fat-finger everything, though) but it's really not an issue. If you can use a cell phone to text, then you have nothing to complain about.
I've never ever had a problem with it over-heating, ever. Right now it's sitting comfortably on my lap, and it was on and plugged in over night. Night music to soothe the soul, you see! My hands and legs are all fine.
To be quite frank, I put off getting a netbook for a long time. Even though they're ideal for my frequent travelling, I was worried about having to maintain two computers in order to still be able to sync my zune with new music. But the usb cd drive solved that problem. I only wish I had bought this at woot instead of at costco, it'd have saved me about $100!
Bottom line, I think this is a really good item, ESPECIALLY if you do any travelling, need your computer to come with you everywhere, or just want something you can stick in a bag and not break your back.

Are you sure that you don't have one with a 6-cell battery?

I agree with everything else you say though.

The keyboard is compact but completely usable. On the other hand, I found the trackpad harder to get used to and did buy a wireless mouse (one comes in this package).

I was expecting sluggish performance but was surprised at how zippy it was. I did remove the mcafee virus and trial stuff. Loaded avg and openoffice instead.

I had planned to upgrade the memory to 2GB (and will probably still do so if I find a good deal). But for basic use, have found it wasn't necessary. That being said, I only use it for web, email, netflix streaming and basic word processing. I do any heavy processing on my desktop.

While you will get better performance out of desktop/notebook, don't confuse this netbook with those that only have SSD drives (which are noticeably slow imo).

I got a D250 from the last sale a few weeks back for $229. I love it. The key are a little smaller, but honestly I got used to it. I put Windows 7 Ultimate on it, upgraded to 2gigs of ram, which was cake...and bought an external drive. I have a 17" laptop and I have to say....it's starting to collect dust. This thing is just so much more handy to throw in a bag and go. I would totally get this deal if I didn't already have one.

pull battery away from laptop
push 6-9 cell battery into the empty backside slot
it clicks when its fully in place

Perfectly. I have Windows 7 Ultimate on it. However, I did upgrade to 2 gigs of ram.

FYI does not support x64 bit.. only x32.

In for one red.

Not crazy about the 3-cell batt, but it's still a heck of a deal, what with the accessory kit. That goes for about $60-$70 by itself. I'll probably get a 6- (or maybe even 9-) cell aftermarket batt to go with.

yes, you remove the 3 cell battery and simply put the new battery on it. a 6 cell battery on might stick out a little on the back but other than that it works the same with more juice.

as far as i know, there is not a hackintosh build for the video chip that this uses yet.

that does not mean that there will NEVER be a way to make it use OSX at some time in the future.

i have OSX 10.15 on a MSI Wind notebook and it is awesome.

i wish i could find a good deal on a USB powered external DVD writer.
