What you guys don't understand is that the reason the phones are so cheap with the US carriers is *because* of the 2 year contract.

Everywhere else around the world, in general, the cell phone service is much less expensive, but you have no contracts.

You *do* pay a lot for the phone though.

The 8gb iPhone 3G without a contract was $399.

That being said, its the last generation model, and its refurbed, it should be a bit cheaper.

After all, refurbished means the kinks have already been dealt with. It's still an iPhone, it's still a quality item, and the sooner people get one the happier we'll all be.

$99 with 2 year contract + $175 early termination fee = $274 - cancel the service the same day you turn it on, save money.
