But a dyson would also cost about the same as 10 of these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Works great on hard wood and carpet. Very strong suction. Great for pet hair. A little tough transforming to canister.

From the reviews I read hard wood/tile floors are supposed to be its forte. Carpet is a little so so but still does a decent job. That's what I gather anyway.

That was very first thought when I saw this! Looks like something straight from the design department on the "Alien" films. Maybe its what they used to clean up?

Has anyone used this in a workshop role? I need something to suck up occasional small quantities of sawdust and the like, and a doesn't-lose-suction unit like this sounds appealing. The DustBuster-sized Dirt Devil I have is perfect in terms of size and power, but by nature the dust I vacuum with it clogs the filter in half a second.

It seems like the vast majority of complaints with this things are in regards to its performance on carpet and other floors. I couldn't care less about this, as I'll be using it exclusively with the bare hose/crevice tool.

as a vacuum technician, I have to tell you guys. This company is canadian (nothing wrong with that), but when you have a problem or something breaks on it you have to ship it to canada. there are no part suppliers in the USA AT ALL. They make OK machines, but don't expect to own it for more than a year or two.

All bagless machines are not made for any fine dust type particles. Go get a cheap shopvac with a huge bag and you'll be happy.

P.S. if you read the manuals of bagless machines, they will tell you that. Even dyson will void their 5 yr warranty if you pick up saw dust. Ive had to tell a few customers that

I bought the Dyson Ball vac from Woot about six months ago.

Love it, love it, love it. The air in the house gets CLEANER as I am vacuuming (Yay HEPA!).

It picks up pet hair and kid hair and all kinds of junk. It picks up so much stuff that I would be changing bags every second time I vacuumed if I was using a bagging vacuum. Note--dump it outside to avoid messes, although once I stupidly dumped the whole shebang out on the carpet. Just stuck the cannister back on and cleaned up the mess lickety-split.

The Ball is great. I love being able to curve it around. I can see it getting to be a strain on wrist for someone doing it all day, but for doing the house, man, it's great.

The biggest drawback is one of our cheap rugs. It has yarn glued to the top of main fabric in a less than immovable way. When the yarn ends come loose (which they do on their own--it isn't a very good rug), the Dyson rips them right off.

But I rather have vacuum that cleans too well than one that leaves stuff on the floor.

Go Dyson! I love mine, and I bought it because my friends all love theirs. Go Woot!

I have purchased a shark car vacuum, and if it is any indication of how their products work, I'd avoid this. The Car vac is complete junk. I searched out a belt for my 20 year old hoover car vac, which works great. You'd think they would have made a little headway in 20 years.

Side note, I have an oreck, I've had to dismantle it a few times, I think it should be able to pick up christmas tree droppings, it does not, it actually did so poor I had to take apart the suction fan chamber to dislodge the gristle that got stuck in the impeller.

bought one last month and returned it.

Suction is GREAT!

It looks awesome. ;)

However, unit is top heavy and awkward, though the swivel turning is rather cool.

turbo attachment is fantastic for stairs.

picks up very well on hard floors (I have tile and concrete)

Doesn't pick up much at all on carpet, no beater brush and NO edge cleaning ability at all - you'll have to transform the sucker and use the hose/crevice tool... which is a bit hard on the back.

I wanted to love this, but just didn't.

These were my reasons for returning:

Not good on carpet
No edge cleaning
Needed a long crevice wand/tool.
Pain in the rear to take apart to empty the little dirt cup. (You have to transform to handvac mode to empty dirt canister)

If the dirt cup was larger, there was a long wand/crevice tool, and it weren't so complicated to transform... it might be darn near perfect. But it's not.

Nope...you'd need a different plug for over there. I found the converters DO NOT work on Vacuums. (I was in France and they had no vacuums with rotating brushes....lack of carpet there) So I bought an american model and hooked it to the step up transformer we had our computer and ect. on.....blew the fuse every time I tried the vacuum.

Somewhere in a french landfill is a Eureka vacuum with a 110 plug.

This thing is AMAZING. It is a must have for hardwood floors. Plus, the pet-hair extension it comes with is great for cleaning the sofa or bed. And it transitions from hardwood to carpet flawlessly. It's well worth the $99 I paid for it so this is a steal.
