A couple of years ago, I'd have jumped on a deal this cheap. Not because I want to speed, but because I'm afraid the ONE FREAKING TIME I'm going too fast, it'll be the wrong place at the wrong time.

But now, I've got a GPS that gently beeps when I go over the speed limit (on highways, at least). That does all I need, since I really do want to obey the posted limit (even as everyone passes me and flips me the bird). So now that the radar detectors are ridiculously cheap... I don't need one any more.

Cr@p-free no more as of 5/26/2010!

90% of all radar detectors are undetectable these days.

When the cop sees this thing he'll probably feel sorry for you and just give you a warning.... So it does work.

The only thing this detector does is act as a glorified, hourly timer. After 1 hour the detector makes extremely loud noise (that scares you to death if you haven't been watching the clock) and then shuts itself off to preserve the batteries. Perhaps you have to mount it directly on the hood of your car to detect anything but, right now it's on the right side of my dashboard and fails to alert me even when I'm passing a patrol car on the side of the road in a speedtrap. The flashing green powerlight is soothing, but don't be lulled into a false sense of security with this detector or you'll end up with a speeding ticket, a heart attack from the hourly shut off alarm, or both

I'd rather see a woot-off for something that sets off radar detectors. Then I can drive past all the people that quickly slow down.

Difficult to find very many reviews on this. Most of the buyers must not be able to access the internet from their jail cell.

And I note that there's a nonzero number of Virginia residents who bought it.

Wonder if the mighty wootlords will be sending the shipping data to VSP.

That would depend on who you call... Do you have the Sheriff's personal cell number... that would be helpful.

I checked out Amazon... there is only one rating... so it may be biased... but it states:

Bottom line, don't waste your time. This is a terrible radar detector. It detected X and K for the brief time I used it. Ran it along side my Valentine One. The V1 gave me anywhere from a 10 sec to 30 sec warning. The ST goes off only when you are w/in a hundred yards or so and the cops radar is at full blast. By then it's too late and you'll be paying a ticket.

It also only works with head on radar. I drove beside a cop w/my V1 going nuts and the ST was quiet as can be. The good news is that this detector doesn't false alarm. They achieve this by tuning the sensitivity down so low you miss out on true radar signals.

No. Just some states. Google it and it will tell you where you can and can't use them.

That said, I agree it's a sucky item. It's cheap but it's not worth it. Both of my brothers are with the State Police for a long time. Both have said, even the best radar detectors aren't working with the equipment they use currently. This one surely isn't going to help you unless you're in a pack of cars as you pass a cop running radar. Slow down and as Oprah says, don't text or talk on your phone while driving. I feel you can talk if hands free with a bluetooth in your ear or the cars system. No texting, lets save some lifes peeps.
