Sweet deal for a Blu-Ray Player.

Amazon has it for 179.99. Only 2 1/2 stars though.

There should be a disclaimer. "Netflix Streaming" IF YOU BUY an additional adapter for 80-100 bucks.

Edit- Ok I got carried away. If you want wireless netflix streaming you need the adapter. I suppose you could connect it to the ethernet port.

Hows the upconversion for standard definition DVDs?

I might just sneak this one in for the office big screen.

does it have an internet connection? Is the netflix free?

Heck of a solid price for this Blu-Ray. It's new updates allows for blockbuster streaming as well. The only bad part is to get wifi-networking you need to pick up an add on dongle. but the ethernet works great for me. Get it if you don't have one.

This is actually a really good player. I bought one at wal mart back in November and paid like $119. Make sure you update the firmware.

You can still stream through ethernet cable.. Just sayin.

sounds like an awesome deal. I have netflix on my LG TV.. Saves a lot of money. I no longer have to buy PPV or Premium channels.

I'm in for one as soon as I get satisfactory answers for the questions posed by ZLoth and drewbaloo513.

How easy is this to update? I know some Blu Ray players are hard to connect to the internet/update.

This is a great buy for anyone who wants to get in on the blu ray game. I'm staring at my Samsung on the other side of the room right now.

Is that automatic and/or extremely easy?

Netflix will never see a penny of mine until they stop their pop-unders and apologize!

I have this blu-ray player

I really like it. It does stream Pandora, Blockbuster, Youtube and Netflix. If you want it to stream wirelessly you do need to buy a dongle that is around $80, however I just connected mine via ethernet to my router and it works great. I do have issues with not being able to use BD live, which requires a memory stick, and occasionally a blue ray disc will not play right away, but all in all, I really like it. We do mostly use it for Netflix though.

Or, god forbid, you actually run a wire.

I have to say, the fact that this has support for Netflix just makes me more annoyed that Samsung still hasn't put out a widget to allow their TVs to directly use Netflix even though they promised it ages ago. >

How does the Netflix service work in comparison to what is found on game consoles?

I had one of these, they worked great except, mine went to "can't read disk" at least twice everytime I watched a DVD on it. This issue wasn't from the DVDs, was from the manufacture.

Im really happy for you and imma let you finish. but this is the worst signature of all time. ALL TIME!

I've had one since Christmas 2009 and it works like a champ. we use the Netflix steaming more than the Blu-Ray discs as it is cheaper and the quality on the 42" plazma is super.

You must have a netflix ultimate account for this to work. It runs about 13.00 a month for two dvd's via mail and unlimited access via streaming. The selection is limited though.

This is a good BD player - especially at this price. You can replace the USA firmware with other regions to enable DivX, Xvid, MKV... playback (but losing netflix in the process).
I use South American FW, and YouTube is still enabled.

I have Samsung DVD home theater system, will my speakers plug into the back of this? How about USB connectivity or iPod dock? I like the price, and love that it can stream netflix, but I don't want to give up 5.1 surround sound, when I can simply connect my laptop to my TV.

The adapter dongle isn't a concern for me. My router is right next to my TV.

WARNING: BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PRODUCT FOLLOWS:

I had one of these and there was a loud hiss in the background all the time, I exchanged it for another and the same problem occurred. When I discussed it with the store manager, he said they got a bad lot and next shipment won't have that problem. Fast forward to six weeks later the next shipment came in, and I tried for a 3rd time. Surely 3's a charm I figured, but when I got home and hooked it up, lo and behold the noise was still there. Then the store tried to blame it on my sound system, yet I don't have any of these issues with my other components. I decided to forget it after the third try. Too bad I can't get my wasted time back. Don't say you weren't warned.

I bought one of these two months ago and took it back two weeks later.. it made a really loud loading noise. My sound tech guy said a new blu ray should never make a noise that loud.. i took it back a week later.. one of these is probably mine!

I bought one of these at Walmart about 3 months ago. It is a nice player. Depending on its firmware there is YouTube, NetFlix, and Pandora streaming. Occasionally I have to unplug it and do a hard reboot of it due to the picture freezing or the player becoming completely unresponsive.

If I thought I could get my parents to use one, I would buy this for them right now.

...uh-oh - be careful as you will need to purchase separately the samsung usb adapter, plus reviews show this player having difficulty with many blu-ray discs which either get stuck on the menu screen or just don't play at all!

What do you mean "Netflix Ultimate"? I've never heard that term. Do you mean unlimited?

Not sure what an "ultimate" account is - you just need any account with unlimited movies. It can be the one-at-a-time one as long as there are no monthly limits.

Ok, some help, please - I usually offer it, but here I need it. I have a computer with Verizon DSL upstairs in my bedroom. I already do Netflix streaming video through my PC, but my new monitor gets lemon juice in the eye for videos. What I want to do is just run either a very long LAN cable downstairs to the TV (about 100' of cable would be needed), or use one of those setups that uses your home wiring to network. I don't want a wireless network in the house. How doable is this, and how good are Samsung factory refurbs? Has anyone done something like this already? I assume I'd need a network hub. Anything else?

The upconversion is actually very nice. It does a much better job than my sony 5 dvd changer with HDMI did.

Well... this has been a disappointing discussion. This would have been perfect for me but it sounds like this product is a POS.
