My g/f got me the box set for my birthday a year and a half ago...easily one of the best presents I've ever gotten. I still get a bit misty-eyed when I read the last strip, but other than that my favorite might be this (very cynical) one:

Of course, it's only my favorite now that I'm older. When I was younger my favorites were always the funny ones: Roslyn the babysitter, Spaceman Spiff, monsters under the bed, snowmen, camping, the killer bicycle....

Oh yeah! I use that explanation on my grandkids and they gulp it every time.

Personally, my favorites include anything Transmogrified and the one where Calvin's hiding under a blanket, pretending he's a giant amoeba. He slides across the kitchen floor. Extending a cytoplasmic pseudopod, the protozoan engulfs a package of oatmeal cookies. Mom looks over as the cookies are being eaten. She pulls the blanket off Calvin, telling him "Nice try. Put them back".

I like almost all of them, but I got a special kick out of this one...

I'd forgotten about that, until I read your post. Now I had to acquire it and send it to my students since Protista is in the final!
Thanks.
