Correction: Staples is selling the "Cover W/Light" for $54.99. The actual reader costs $179.99 at Staples. The Woot price is a solid bargain.

I personally think if all you're going to do is read an e-Book and you want it ultraportable, this is the one to get right now.

The Nook costs at least $150 more.

Not all jobless people are unintelligent - one of my coworkers (a mechanical engineer) was jobless for three months! He even tried getting a job at Wal-Mart, but they would not hire him because he had too much experience.

No MP3, no dictionary, no notes / highlighting. No wireless, no card slot. Of course, having said all that, it seems that the one thing it does do -- read e-Books -- it does extremely well.

I have to admit my books don't do any of those other things either. They just lay there.

I have a Kindle and my husband has the Sony. I just wooted this, because I like to download books from the library. The Kindle does not accept that file format. Someday I hope they will be forced to change due to the competition. Then the Kindle will blow away the Sony. It is much more versatile, and a little larger. Without those library downloads though, I need this woot!

I think you are right. You really shouldn't get a e-book reader, especially since you can't even read. Your own link shows it is the cover, not the actual device. Geeeez...

Um, it looks like the product to which you are referring @ Staples is the Digital Reader pocket edition CASE, not the reader itself.

If you have an iPhone, you can download Kindle software for free and not need this. Kindle also makes software for your PC, so you should be able to put it on your netbook as well.

Hmmm, a look at Staples.com shows the Pocket Reader at $179.99 as a $20 off "Special Buy". Perhaps you saw the Pocket Edition Digital Book Cover with Light, which is $54.99...

$115 delivered still looks pretty good!

That's a $150 Sudoku feature you're paying for, you know... on an un-intuitive interface.

For that price difference, I'd get this Sony Reader and a DS Lite.

Heh...my prediction is coming true.

At CES this year I predicted we'd have e-readers for <$100 before the end of the year. Granted this is refurb...but mark my words...under $100 e-readers (decent ones) for xmas...

And you know I'm smart (and going to heaven) by looking at my bunions.

Now...let's have a look at that lifeline...

People are paying the same price for a Kindle that doesn't have expandable memory, etc... And Sudoku is just the start... Nook runs Android, which means that bigger and better things are on the way...
