We still have not shipped these out. Never fear, just as all else we sell, this too will ship within 5 business days and emails will be sent out with the tracking when that is available.

wow. hope you dont fry ur deck doing that, or catch ur car on fire because ur too lazy to do it properly. lmao.

everyone is so hardcore about this lol When I install this in my 07 jetta im going to do it properly with connectors and tape to ensure no shorts but to be honest if you carefully splice by hand and tape em the stereo will have no problem. I am a Local #3 union electrician and I specialized in thermal scanning of high voltage electrical systems. bad connections create heat and problems but anyone who isn't completely incompetent can splice wires for a stereo well enough to make a good connection. a good technique is to split the strands of each wire into 2 groups and twist em together individually before twisting the whole thing together then wrap em up good. connectors are defiantly a good idea for the power lines though

Please don't half-ass the install on your car stereo.

Sure, it's possible to use nothing but electrical tape and/or wire nuts to get a solid connection. Wire nuts are perfectly solid when you're putting in a ceiling fan or replacing that bathroom light fixture. There are two issues when using them in an automotive application, though:

1) Houses and industrial buildings don't bounce around. Cars do. I don't know how many times we've had a car in the shop with "electrical gremlins" only to find out that someone at some point had used wire nuts or electrical tape to make a connection that had become loose after bouncing around in a car.

2) Wire nuts and big bundles of "that ain't coming loose" electrical tape take up A LOT of space. When you're trying to cram the OEM wiring harness, aftermarket harness adapter, the head unit's wiring and the antenna/antenna adapters in a small cavity designed only for the OEM harness and antenna, space is at a bit of a premium. Trying to cram 10lbs of crap into a 5lb space is only exacerbated further when you've got a bunch of huge yellow wire nuts back there as well.

On top of that, the tendency to "shove it all in until it fits" can easily loosen/break a poor connection and strip wire straight out of a wire nut.

We typically use some sweet Wurth solder crimp connectors when wiring stuff like that at the shop; you crimp the wires in then hit the connector with a torch briefly to melt the internal soldering. I know not everyone has access to such things, but some $0.02 crimp connectors and a decent crimper are well worth the investment. At least that way you'll know the connections are solid.

So, I bought one of these and was wondering what you guys thought of me just stripping the wires and using the twist and tape method of installation.

LMAO

Actually, I've personally witnessed an installation go awry that was done by, er... a "friend", and the power wire shorted out against a frame member behind the dash. Luckily the car didn't go up, but the wire to the radio became an effective fuse so to speak.

Ever since, I've soldered and heatshrinked my installations and never had a failure. To each his own. My insurance company appreciates it.

ARGH! Me too, I already have the wiring kit, dash kit, parking brake bypass, rearview camera, and bluetooth kit sitting in my garage.. Bought them all online as well after the head unit, got them but haven't gotten the shipping confirmation.. Just hope it doesn't fall through or I'm going to have to buy one somewhere else after I got all this gear!

Um, cars vibrate, so your connections should be soldered or crimped. End of story.

Yes, we are cruel.

For this item though, there was a delay as we had to wait on our HORRIBLE vendor, JUST HORRIBLE let's all blame them*. These were shipped to us and we have just gotten in the very last bits and should be finished actually shipping these soon- emails will be out by the end of the day.

And here is some salt for your OH GOD IT'S LATE wounds- this is the fifth business day (counted from the day after the sale) and we are still getting these out on time though I freely admit we are usually quicker.

*please do not blame our vendor it is likely still our fault.

Hey Woot!! Who is the shipping carrier? USPS? I hope so because they have Saturday delivery, otherwise I doubt I will receive product in NC in time for installation this weekend. Please don't make me drive to beach with crappy stock stereo and tape adapter that I use to listen to iPod.

These are all shipping FedEx Ground except, of course, for PO Boxes and military addresses- SmartPost for you suckers!

Truly, I would just hate for your wonderful beach vacation to be ruined as obviously I'm not even a bit jealous.

ps. I have canceled your order.

i am MECP certified and DO NOT do this at all if you do not know what your doing then take it to someone that does. I only use tape on solder joints when heat shrink is not available and I back it up with a zip tie but if your asking these kind of questions then you probably do not don't how to solder either so just stick with installed crimp caps or again take it to someone that is responsible for their work
