Besides the Framechannel ads, the other annoyance to me is that there are always two icons in the upper right corner when using online services. One is to tell you you are using online services (in case you didn't realize you JUST SELECTED an online service) and the other is to show you that wifi is being used (in case you didn't realize that online services use the wifi). Why Toshiba thought it would be a good idea to keep these icons permanently turned on is beyond me. The picture frame should be for viewing pictures, not for status display icons that cover up my pictures.
Also I got 1 dead pixel, boo hoo for me. If you've figured out how to turn off the icons, please post here since I can't find any other info about turning them off in the manual or online. I've tried randomly pressing buttons on the remote but so far no luck. I wrote Toshiba customer support but am fully expecting to get an automated reply that doesn't actually try to answer my question. After I send the second request with the same question I will post back if I get a definitive answer from them.

Update, in case anyone's watching:
Toshiba customer service was excellent! My question was answered by a human within 48 hours. The rep said it was a bug and sent me a "new" firmware which turned out to be the one I already had. I upgraded anyway just in case mine had been broken, but the icons remained. I reported my results to customer service, and within 48 hours a rep CALLED ME ON THE PHONE to further discuss the matter. Turns out the first rep was wrong and the icons remaining on is the bright idea of some Toshiba designer. I still think the icons are stupid, but I was impressed by the customer service.
