Just so everyone knows what a 2.1 system is:
the 2 is how many speakers there are
and
the .1 is the sub woofer

So, that is why home theaters have 7.1 or 5.1 because they have a center front speaker and a left and right speaker in the front, middle, and back. (A 5.1 system does not have the two middle)

personally I have always thought that a sub should count for more than 1/10th of a speaker.
Where are the 7.3 systems with three times the bass?
