AA Batteries = eww.

But, not bad for the price. Just dont expect to get more than 50 pictures out of two standard batteries.

wow...they must have a crap load of these. This is at least the third woot of these, and I think the price has dropped $10 each time....

Keep in mind that while this is 12.4 MP, it has only 3x optical zoom and the rest of the hardware isn't amazing, either. MEGAPIXELS ARE NOT EVERYTHING! Also, a camera that's supposed to be "nice" for $40? I think that's too good a deal for a truly good camera, even from Woot...

I don't get it...what is so easily shared on this camera? It seems to have one lens and one display. How can you share something like that?

What a nice camera. Does it do video too? How about that nifty face detection thing soon to be re purposed into terminators.

You press the share button and the software helps you upload it to different places etc etc... its a useful feature for people who aren't very computer savvy.

Different camera. This would be good for graduating 8th grade...

PERFECT for kids. At this price, it's well worth it, as they sell for about 79.99 NEW on Amazon, and I'm sure it'd get much more use than those disposable cameras (made by the same people, go figure)

Seriously though, this camera is rated about 4+ stars everywhere you look, and though it might not be anywhere NEAR the quality of a $300 camera, for $40 it's about the best you'll probably find.

As for the megapixels... More megapixels does NOT mean better quality photos... it just means you'll have quality prints pending on the megapixels. I know 10+ are good for 16x20 or something like that, and anything extra is overkill. The quality of the photo itself deals more with ISO control, lighting, etc. but I doubt this camera will be that enhanced in features... but like I said... it's good for $40.

Why would anyone want to use 1.3 MP 4:3 resolution/format... does it give you an extra "fast" exposure index?...

If you want the performance, tweakability, and options of a DSLR, then buy one. This is a cheapo point shoot that I would consider "lose-able". I can't see spending over $100 for a point and shoot when a decent "real" (DSLR) can be had for around $400, with interchangeable lenses and several more adjustable options.

they might be ewww, but standard batteries mean if they go dead your not waiting for a specialized battery pack to recharge for an hour or 2 in the middle of the kids birthday party.

Kodak cameras have great optics and wonderful color rendition BUT THEY DRAIN BATTERIES LIKE MAD. Seriously, my last Kodak needed a battery change after 20 photos and 1 short movie. Others have said the same. And yes, I use hi capacity (2800mAh) NiMH batteries that I've refreshed using a LaCrosse charger. Alkalines were even worse.

And this camera is unusual in that it does 12meg stills but only VGA movies. Even cameras with lower res generally do HD videos now.

I've got the version of this camera that does HD video... got it from Woot a while back. It burns through batteries, but takes excellent pics and video for the price. Mine had an unfortunate accident and got a busted screen, so I'm pondering grabbing one of these as a replacement.

Kodak point-and-shoot cameras always seem to have the best optics for the price range within which the camera lies. I am amazed at how sharp and clear images are all the way out to the edges.

Oh, thanks! And has anyone noticed that the camera has a very slight resemblance to R2D2? I like that.

Every Kodak camera I've used has been incredibly easy to work.

For a simple point and shoot, it should do the job.

AA batteries = convenient. Instead of worrying about your proprietary batteries losing their charge, you can use your AA rechargeables, or, if in a real pinch, alkalines. Who doesn't have plenty of AA nimh batteries these days?

We have this camera and we use Energizer Rechargable AA Batteries (that we got from a woot off!) with it, it runs fine with no problems and alerts us when the batteries are running low.

From personal experience, the C series cameras are great for point and shoot and basic photography. Battery life is actually quite good and while build quality is pristine, they are reliable and efficient. Great birthday gift for kids at this price.

The EasyShare button- literally a button on the camera- basically lets one upload images to some pre-set accounts (Facebook, Twitter, e-mail etc.) once you connect it to your computer. Or so I parsed from the manual for my Kodak camera equipped with EasyShare. I've never used the button, nor the bundled software, but they make a big enough selling point about it that I thought EasyShare might have some wireless sharing capabilities or something; it doesn't. I'm sure it's useful to someone, but I haven't found a need to use it yet.

Would the video be good enough for me to capture my golf swing for later analysis? or should i be looking for something that records at a higher fps?

I got one very similar to these (C190) in the 6th anniversary Woot Lights / Bowl-Of-Cherries.

You're not going to replace a high end camera with this one, but for typical point and shoot it works quite well enough. This is a very small camera, so fits in the wife's purse nicely. Quite cheap, so would be ideal for high school student. Will take pretty good pictures, and at this price if they lose or break the thing it won't be the end of the world.

The only real negative thing I can say about this camera is that the focus motor is quite noisy while the camera is adjusting the auto focus.

When you get yours if it doesn't power on, try reversing the batteries. The indicator under the battery cover shows the +/- in a way that's easy to confuse and get backward.

Enlighten me - where do you get a decent DSLR with lenses for $400?

I have had a 3.2mp and an 8.2mp Kodak cameras. Both have had good picture quality, are simple to upload to a computer, and have very understandable buttons. I am not a photographer, I am a parent who likes to take pictures. I paid $100 for my 8.2 mp Kodak almost 2 years ago. My only issue with these cameras is there is a slight delay from the time you push the button to the time it takes a picture. Once you get used to it, its not really an issue. I have not had an issue with battery life, but I carry extra batteries in the case. It is a nice feature that I can use a couple of AA batteries instead of some specialty battery. I generally use an 8mb SD card and can get 100 pictures on it with the 8.2. I don't know if this helps anyone, but that is my 2 cents regarding the Kodak cameras. And I am in for 1, gonna upgrade.

First comment on the board and it's negative about AA batteries? You must be kidding! What do you want for $39.99 plus $5 shipping? Lithiums at the least? This is a nice camera for the money. You could give it to a child and not worry about it, the cost is negligible. I don't understand you people. I really think a certain group of you are so young or dopey you can't afford anything but the bag of garbage and that's all you're here for. If I were employed by Woot, I wouldn't let you on the board until you had spent a certain amount or had a decent amount of purchases.

In for 3 for gifts with extra AA batteries!

Now I have a problem with the "new" woot! staff giving us waaaay too much information in the item description -- it's not allowing us hardcore research-types to go exploring the world to provide our fellow woot!ers with erroneous and extraneous information...

Looks suspiciously like the same one I got Black Friday at Walmart this last year. (Double checked, yup, exact same one) Paid $70 for it and got a cheap warranty for it. So far, so good. It's lasted longer than the one I got the year before...been dropped numerous times...takes the beating of being in my purse.

I bought lithium batteries for it & they have lasted forever. The regular ones did give out fast.

Takes pretty good video, even at a distance.

Not sure what they refurbished on them, but for almost half the price, I'd buy another, if I needed one.

late edit: Thought I should mention this after seeing people talk about shutter lag. I don't have that problem with it, but I do get irked about the speed AFTER you take the pic for it to show up on the display. I can actually take several pictures in the length of time it takes for it to decide to display.

Got one, I love my 613 I have now. This will be a cheap upgrade. I use GE/sanyo enloops in mine and have two AA's always charging and ready. I like the AA's because the prop battery packs cost too much and are hard to find on the fly. My sister needed a camera because she broke her old easyshare and she has 3 boys to capture. so she gets either this or my old one. I just can't come out the $400 for a camera unless you are serious about photography and just like blowing money.
