HDMI 1.4 is NOT required for 3D. Sony is releasing firware for the ps3 to play 3D blu-rays movies and that is not a 1.4 it's just a manufactures model designation for thier product. Don't get ripped off folks they practically had thier hands in ur pockets!!

HDMI is a digital signal. It is impossible for there to be an "improved" picture. You either get the picture or you do not. The plastic ones work just as well as a gold plated ones. Solid gold cables wouldn't improve the picture.

While I will buy these, it amuses me that there can be a 'high quality' version of a digital wire. The 6 foot length is nice though and should work great to replace the shorter ones that I have patching everything into my tv currently.

Although not "extreme," I got THREE 6' HDMI cables for only $7.49 on eBay, free s/h. They work just as well as my friend's $15.95 ccable.

not a bad price. You can get one cable at the great monoprice site for $5.32 shipped to Chicago. These are 1.3, the new standard coming out soon is 1.4. Unless you have a need these cables are very good price.

Here is a link that will help you compare 1.3 to 1.4. The best feature is the audio return channel. See the link for more information. I am buying a new receiver that will take advantage of this feature.

Visit 1.4 information

Well, you can't really improve a perfect picture, but I've heard that a bad/defective cable can give you artifacts.

It's a slight distinction; if you already have a good picture on whatever cable or coat hanger you have, no cable will improve it at any price. But if you are currently experiencing obvious signal problems, it could be the cable.

That may be ARGUABLY true for analog signals at longer distances, but for 6' of digital info, I'll stick with the HDMI cables I got off eBay (THREE 6' cables for $7.49. free s/h).
