This one has the free 3G, so it is in fact a good deal (newest model on Amazon.com is 189).

Too bad I already gots 1 more than I want.

Bought this the day that Woot was acquired by Amazon. I feel like I lost a good friend that day, and got, in exchange, a plastic book reader.

Oh no, amazon is meddling by adding their products into the wootoff! We should just boycott woot altogether from this.

That way there will be less people around so i can grab myself a Baggie of Cthulhu :P. And yes, the above was sarcasm.

No, this one has free global 3G -- the one for 10 bucks cheaper only works when you're in a wifi hotspot.

That one has WiFi, not the 3G. This is the old version of the $189 model.

The $139 version only has WiFi; I think the version here is the $189 3G version ("global"): link to Amazon

Hey, 32 sold. So *this* is where those 32 missing Kindles went (Woot sold 4968 during the welcome-to-Amazon Kindle sale, just 32 shy of a nice round 5000).

The Kindle is a nice device. I'm glad to see it. Now, this is a bad deal when you consider a better device is coming out in a week. But, I'd love to see MORE Kindles. Just the better kind.

Nice drop the version info hope a sucker clicks buy. Huge step up on the screen for the new version3. Free 3g is not worth the price when you think its an e-reader not an ipad! The old eyes will not like you when they see the new one..

A Kindle. Is not. A SCREAMING MONKEY.

And what's with ending the Woot Off an hour and forty minutes later than per usual? You're changing the rules, Woot! Rules you put in place for the good of humanity!

Edit: the lights vanished on the camera for me, for some reason. So I was wrong. IGNORE EVERYTHING I HAVE SAID EVER.

I got one of these from Woot during the Amazon celebration, and I really like it. I'm reading free out of copyright books. The 3G is nice, but you would only use the included web browser out of desperation on any normal web site.

Wow. I feel like Amazon just kicked me in the face. It was like the execs just got handed a new toy and wanted to see how far they could go.

"Let's give them...THIS pile of...*opens box* knives!"

"Done."

"They bought it?! No way! Okay, well I have a f-ton of DVD's from the 80's. Let throw 'em that."

2903 HOURS LATER

"Ok. I don't get it. These boxes were BO-RING. Who'd want them anyway? Let's just sell 'em some Kindles and go home."

As if we could forget who sponsored the most massively disappointing WootOff marathon ever.

Yes, I have, actually. I have a Kindle. The web browsing experience is a step above Lynx and about on par with non-smartphones. But that's fine. It's sufficient for Gmail (the lightweight mobile version), checking weather, flight status, and, of course, Wikipedia.

Yeah I just bought one.

I want the 3G for when I want to look up a word, but am not in a Wifi area. Or even when I am in a Wifi area but don't want to mess with logins just to look up a word.
