Long time wooter. I have become used to the shipping delays (is that a good thing?) But this one is a tad ridiculous.

I'm a first time wooter. Can some veteran's tell me is this shipping debacle typical for Woot? I guess this might be my first and last Woot, unless I hear otherwise...

This isn't typical.
But it has happened before...

A few times, I have had my items arrive before I got shipping notifications.

Ordered 30 Aug ( 31 Aug Texas time )
Got tracking number 7 Sept.
Received BuckyBalls in CA on 11 Sept.

Nothing was too out of place with my order, Smartpost never being the quickest.

Lots of fun. Unlike others mentioned ( back when the discussion was about the product not shipping ) I had no problem re-assembling a tidy cube.

Using more than one set ( 343 to be exact ) a nice 7x7x7 cube fits just fine in the plastic box. Actually looks like it was made more for the 7-cube.

I'm going to have to seriously consider my next purchase from woot.... order date 8/31 with an estimated arrival of 9/21. Pathetic. I should have just bought the single pack from Amazon.

ncmoschetti

quality posts: 0 Private Messages ncmoschetti

I, too, am disappointed by this experience. Ordered 8/31, estimated delivery 9/21; that's a very long time to wait, especially having been given no information throughout the process. At the risk of being unoriginal, a simple email informing me of the delay would have been appreciated.

I will likely woot again, which is all the more reason to learn from this and do right for your loyal wooters next time.

Well shipping updated ... finally

EDD of Sept. 20, 2010 >.< icky

So 3 weeks give or take to place the order and to finally see it. Not great for a first impression.

Not too thrilled about lack of emails / communication and such. I really OH GOD, THEY CAN SEE ME! to be the whiney customer to get something >.> but I kinda would like to get free shipping on next order or well a "sorry" would be nice too. *pout* I need something to play with at work because I do take customer calls

WARNING: woot! should not be used to order life-saving equipment or medications.

I'm not thrilled with the shipping either (mine was just sent out) but c'mon people, it's a deal-a-day. They don't have warehouses full of products like amazon or the legions of well trained monkeys eager to ship your order. Sure, they probably have a few ill-tempered monkeys lounging around and the faq claims that your product is in stock, but a lot of times they're probably at the mercy of other suppliers/shippers/demigods.

If you'll die from geek-toy withdraw soon or you've waited to the last minute to birthday shop, try Big Lots. If you want pretty cool stuff (that you probably don't need anyway) for a pretty cool price and the world won't end if you don't get it tomorrow - then you're in the right place.

I don't understand why everyone keeps saying "I should have just purchased these elsewhere so I would have them on time." If woot! had not displayed this item then no one would have bought the item in the first place. Everyone got a great deal on this item, so quit complaining!

I just got my tracking details, schedued to arrive on the 17th, that's 2 days from now and I ordered it on 8/31/2010....17 days is just too long and probably won't order from here again. I have already removed woot.com from my favorites, even removed it from my firefox toolbar, it's not worth ordering stuff that takes forever to process and ship. GG

I am not complaining about how long it is taking ( life happens) What i AM complaining about is the lack of communication Woot! has provided. I don't get any email apologizing or explaining why my order isn't shipped, instead I am left on my own to sort and sift through a 1000 posts on a blog for any info, and then when i finally do get shipping/tracking info. its bunk ( I got my tracking number 4 days before FedEx even picked up the item.) so again. I am not complaining about the length of time. i am complaining about the lack of professionalism, communication, and customer service

The sale page itself stated there would be a later shipping date, because they were able to get more from the provider.

As for having to sift through a 1000 post, if you notice on the I pooped. Just a little though. there is a break down of posts that are important or "quality", in scrolling through that you will find shipping updates given by [Staff].

Items shipped from Woot are shipped SmartPost, the slowest and most unpredictable form of shipping. I have had items take 7-10 days and a few only take 4.

An email would have been nice yes, but I think Woot had enough info out there.

Think about this too, Woot only had a few of these items to start with, so the ones complaining would not have even had a chance to get these at such a great price, hadn't it been for the extra batch from the vendor.

I agree with the simple solution. Woot! really should have sent emails. It'd retain some customer satisfaction by keeping them informed and probably kept operating costs down by lowering the number of support queries.

The only problem I have with all this is Woot staff told us that anyone who ordered before noon shouldn't experience any delays. I got my confirmation email around 9:45 am Central time, clearly before noon, and my order was one of the absolutely last to ship out (part of the orders that FedEx "forgot" on Saturday). One more week until smartpost gets my balls to me.

Mine just arrived. A bit later than expected, but the contents were just as ordered.

The extensive discussion reminds me much of the old seemingly never-ending campfire joke story with the merchant and the talking donkey, with the final refrain of "Patience, jackass, patience!"

I should also note that the Woot box decorations have gotten progressively cooler over time.

I got my balls weeks ago. Opened one box out of 6 and played for 30 mins. They're now collecting dust on my fireplace mantle, 5 of 6 boxes still unopened. Best $90 I've ever spent!

I bought four boxes and there is no way you didn't have the desire to combine them all and throw them at your fridge like a baseball. So you are lying or planning on gifting them.

And everyone else, 1/7 of my woots took a little longer. I have never really cared though, with the 5$ flat shipping and deals I got, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. On top of that it is a smurfing fiddle toy, your life is the same as the day before you saw these deal. Take comfort knowing, you will be pleased when you do get them.

Got mine today (the 15th).

It's been a long ride, but worth the wait. I ordered in the afternoon, because I was trying to decide how many sets to buy. I ended up going with all three (x2, for a total of six). I'm glad I did, and already I want more!

I know this was a bit of a woot! SNAFU as far as shipping goes. Without condemning or condoning, all I can say is I appreciate that my order was sent FedEx Home Delivery rather than the advertised Smart Post. My order got on a truck Monday and made it to Illinois Wednesday. If it had been sent Smart Post, I probably wouldn't see it until next week. Thanks for that, woot!

OK... The first really cool thing I noticed since I've been playing with my six sets: Six sets is exactly enough (unless I already lost some) balls to make eight increasingly larger cubes - 1x1x1, 2x2x2, 3x3x3, 4x4x4, 5x5x5, 6x6x6, 7x7x7, 8x8x8.

Enjoy!

Sadly I was lied to by woot.

When I requested my order be canceled, they told me on the 10th, before I ever received a confirmation email, that the order could not be canceled since it had been processed and I would have to refuse delivery. My order wasn't shipped until the 14th. Obviously 4 days is more than enough to cancel any order, especially when the item isn't shipped in the time promised. (9am order here)

Sure it really could have been possible that they were not able to fulfill a cancellation request within 4 days, but that leaves me with 2 possibilities:

One is that it was indeed a lie

Two is that they have such a horribly disorganized system that it would really would take them more than 4 days to cancel an order that hasn't shipped.

Either way, my years with woot are over. I have sat through more than one long wait for shipping from woot, and this will be my last.

Okay...

here's two possibilities:

Risk a long wait time and get 2 for the price of one.

OR

Pay the same price for one set and get it within 5-10 days AND pay more for shipping.

The answer is simple to me. While it sucks cuz I really want my balls like every1 else, I can deal with a 10-15 days extra wait to pay 1/2 the price.

BuckyWatch Day 16

Dear Journal,

The wait for my dear Bucky Balls continues. The tracking number on Fedex.com states that the Balls should arrive at my doorstep on September 20th, in the year of our Lord 2010. This does seem like a long wait for such a simple product, but I must keep in mind that even when next Monday approaches, only 13 business days will have passed since I first placed my order. As a four-year veteran of Woot, I must maintain my patience and put my faith in a company that has done me no wrong before. Praise the Heavens for such an organization!

Cordially yours,

No. No. No. They are the chrome looking ones.

My balls as shown do look sorta gold'ish now that you mention it, but it is only an artifact of the post editing that I did on the original images.

It seems that when you take a picture of a shiny thing, it messes with the auto focus features of my camera. So, what I do when taking a picture of a shiny thing, I turn off the flash, use a tripod, and use a small aperture with a long exposure and incandescent light. Then, when I post edit them, I turn up the brightness and contrast.

In brief, the gold look is as a result of exposing my balls under incandescent light.

Oh no, he didn't.
Oh yes, it seems he did.
