So how about today's Wootcast, hunh? This thread is for talking about it and all the ways in which it bored, offended, annoyed or otherwise failed to entertain us. Here, I'll kick off the discussion: WORST. WOOTCAST. EVER.

So woot, you want in on the recipe route, hmmm? Head on over to the thread, I have advised that you are looking for something to do with 6 pounds of Nacho Cheese sauce besides pouring it over every meal for the next 3 years.

Hooray for Happy Snacking! But today's w00t-vidcast begs the question...

Who the hell is mattschuette?? Judging from his 8 other posts, he's just a clone of Matthew and us peons aren't supposed to know the difference.

So what does this all mean?

Has Matthew been absorbed into the collective?

Did Matthew ever really exist?

Has our perception of Matthew really just been a dream?

Am I dreaming now?

If I w00t and therefore I am, what if w00t doesn't really exist? Do I cease to exist?

what if... hey look, it's a Happy Snacking on my computer screen. Cool!

P.S. Matthew has PM's that need answering.

WARNING

Woot.com does not recommend or endorse the consumption of whiskey by:

01. Minors
02. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, especially if they're the sort of women who are MORE likely to become pregnant under the influence, if you know what we mean
03. Operators of heavy machinery
04. Professional or recreational tightrope walkers

Consuming whiskey has no effect on the flavor of this HAPPY SNACKING! recipe, so non-drinkers who skip this step can be confident their "Trail Eggs" will turn out every bit as disgusting as ours.

Sober snackers will not, however, be able to use inebriation as an excuse for having cooked such a nauseating meal.

I was planning on seasoning my dutch oven tomorrow so I might as well experiment with my seemingly wonderful nacho cheese recipe.

Hardware:
*Dutch Oven
*Oven Oven
*Welding Gauntlets
*3 sheets of Bacon Grease Soaked Paper (BGSP)

Ingredients:
* 6 cups self-rising flour
* 3 tablespoons white sugar
* 2 bottles of any WI Oktoberfest
* 2 lbs of cheddar cheese
* 1/8 cup fresh chili peppers (the hottest that your family can stand)
* 3 fingers of whiskey or... Great Lakes Distillery

Directions:
*Cut paper so that it covers the bottom and side of the dutch oven. It may be odd but I kept my separating papers from precooked bacon for just such an occasion.
*Preheat oven and dutch oven to 500°F.
*Combine self raising flour, sugar, peppers, 3/4ish of the cheese, and beer in a large mixing bowl. Add more beer or flour so that it actually looks like dough.
*Carefully with your welding gloves remove dutch oven and set it someplace where it won't burn down your kitchen.
*With your welding gloves drop in your BGSP and pray that it won't burn down your kitchen.
*Carefully place your doughy mass in the center of your dutch oven.
*Cover with as much cheese as you can stand.
*Bake for 45 min covered and then 15 min without the lid.
*At this point consume the whiskey.
*Let cool in dutch oven and serve to anyone without any known heart conditions.

I wasn't sure if all 6 lbs of cheese needed to be used at once, but I didn't get the chance to purchase three of the dutch ovens you recently offered. I will edit or add notes after baking this tomorrow.

As of the nacho cheese...you could always make nachos!

OK, I'm kind of confused here. I get Mortimer and Monte, continuing their breakroom adventures. I understand "field testing" woot gear. But cooking? And trail eggs? Don't get it at all. I'd say this is wine.woot related, but this is guzzing whiskey (not wine) and wine.woot is all about the gourmet food. This is about as far from gourmet as you can get.

Explain plz.

One of their regular audio podcasts is the Happy Snacking podcasts. Now it is in video format. Other regular podcasts: Today in History, Million-Dollar Ideas, Listener Mailbag, and of course Theme for Wooting Off.

Hey, Woot. For the last week or so, I've been adjusting to the new once-per-week video-format podcast. I think I can cope with that. But what I'm really wondering is why you detached the wootcast from the iTunes podcasting system. Surely, SHIRLEY if RadioLab can figure out how to occasionally post videos onto their normally audio-only podcast, then you guys can as well. That way, iTunes can continue quietly gathering and organizing and filing away my Wootcasts, via my existing Woot Podcast subscription, while I sleep!

Thanks,

- Ken

I like the nachos idea, but it's not WOOT enough. So I propose *Reverse Nachos*!

Normally you have a lot of chips, and some cheese, and there's never enough cheese to go around, you always end up with a handful of sad, broken tortilla chips on the plate with no cheese left. You might also call this "Nacho Soup."

Reverse Nachos
1 gallon nacho cheese
Two gorilla fistfuls of tortilla chips
Other nacho standards like olives, sour cream, guacamole, bacon, etc
about 3 fingers of rye whiskey

1. It's best to start with the whiskey on this one. Trust me.
2. Heat up the nacho cheese. To save a bowl, just open the can a little and put the whole thing in your oven at about 200 degrees for an hour or so.
3. Get your Oreo Cereal bowl (you know, the BIG one) and pour all the cheese in. Add the chips and other ingredients and dig in.
4. Mmmm, that's good Reverse Nachos.

Wow, this stuff practically writes itself..

As for your 6 lb. can of nacho cheese sauce, consider picking up a case of Ro-Tel tomatoes (canned), and make a really otterific dip for your friends... add the juice of half a dozen or so limes and maybe some taco meat and you're the king of the never ending nacho dip.

For the can of cheese, try cheddar cheese soup. You'll be able to feed an army! Just substitute the can of cheese for the cheese here:

Ingredients

* 1 1/2 cups diced carrots
* 1 1/2 cups diced onion
* 1 1/2 cups diced celery
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
* 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
* 3 cups chicken broth
* 2 cups beer
* 1/3 cup butter
* 1/3 cup flour
* 4 cups milk or half and half
* 6 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
* 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
* 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
* 1 teaspoon dry mustard
* popped popcorn, for garnish

Directions

1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, stir together carrots, onion, celery, and garlic. Stir in hot pepper sauce, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Pour in chicken broth and beer; simmer until vegetables are tender, about 12 minutes. Remove from heat.
2. Meanwhile, heat butter in a large soup pot over medium-high heat. Stir in flour with a wire whisk; cook, stirring until the flour is light brown, about 3 or 4 minutes. Gradually stir in milk, whisking to prevent scorching, until thickened. Remove from heat, and gradually stir in cheese. Keep warm.
3. Stir beer mixture into cheese mixture. Stir in Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and dry mustard. Adjust for hot pepper sauce. Bring to a simmer, and cook 10 minutes. Serve topped with popcorn.
