How does that compare to the IBM 486?

Quadcore, 8GB RAM, Blu-Ray drive, and Windows Home 64-Bit? I dunno... I think I kinda like this deal. I've bought a few refurbished items and have not had any major issues, and I don't mind HP products, as I haven't had any super bad experiences with them. I'd say, this is a thumbs up deal.

TB = terrabyte (1,000 GB). They are referencing the Harddrive storage space.

That is true, but I didn't want to get to technical. It's 1,000GB true space, but after formatting, only about 95% or so of that is generally writable. The rest goes into a lot of other recovery tables, etc.

4000 mhz bus?

I'd love to say this is a great deal, but since I just paid $899 for it at Best Buy 2 weeks ago I'm going to grumble instead.

I hooked this up to a 36" lcd and use it almost exclusively for media. I love it, fast, quiet and more than enough memory.

It also plays Starcraft II without a hiccup, which was a consideration.

My only problem, and I may just be an inattentive armadillo, is that no matter how many screen adjustments I make I cannot get the entire screen to fit within the 36 inches.

At this price, this is a steal. Albeit a late one...

Actually...it doesn't. It's a technical difference between how things are measured (binary versus something or other..it's been a few years). You're talking about the space taken up by the OS once it's formatted.

Terabyte...of storage on the hard drive. Basically, over 1,000 gigabytes of storage.

1,024 megabytes = 1 gigabyte

1,024 gigabytes = 1 terabyte

1,048,576 (1,024 squared) megabytes = 1 terabyte

With the build quality I've experienced in high-powered laptops lately, I'd rather use a yellow legal pad and a #2 pencil (I'm looking at you, Alienware M17x-R2 that I've had 3 replacements of so far).

If I didn't have a kid arriving at the end of the month, I'd be tempted to get this rig for myself at the pricepoint.

Be warned, It has a ton of processing power, but If you are a gamer, you will want to upgrade that graphics card... Shes a weak one

Yes, 1024 GB should be a terabyte, but it is in fact 1000 GB. Macs actually now deem 1000 mb as a GB
