This deal is perfect, not only can you get one "not a snuggie" to wear on your front, but with two you can wear them together (one front, one back) as a halloween costume, or just as a way to make yourself feel like royalty. Also, attaching the book lights to a winter cap and wearing on your head will be sure to scare even the most annoying peeping tom's in your neighborhood into never looking through your window again!! Thank God because I hate having to keep my blinds closed

Given the heat wave in California, I don't think you'll get many Cali buyers for this Woot. Heard that it was a record-breaking 113F yesterday in Los Angeles (although it could have actually been higher, but the "official" thermometer broke). It even hit 94F in San Fran, which is normally cool this time of year. for what it's worth, it reached 116F outside my apartment window in NYC last month (although the official Central park temp was only about 103F).

After purchasing these, I would suggest looking into a Snuggie Lovers Anonymous Group

By the way, it's kind of cool the way it works. There's no bulb on and off switch.

You press the only button, the light automatically opens and the bulb turns on.

To turn off the light you manually press the light back into it's folded position and the bulb turns off.

All in all, I'd say the light could have sold on Woot by itself, two for $5. And IMHO the light alone is worth at least $5 (that's what I would pay).

Matter if fact, as I recall, these lights over a year ago have sold in books stores and elsewhere for $10 to $15.

But where they became a hit was as promo giveaways at trade shows, with the vendors name plastered on it.

You actually have 12 stocking stuffers: 6 blankets and 6 booklights. And if you remove the batteries to give as gifts, you'd have 18 more stocking stuffers (6 x 3 batteries for each light).

And fyi, we don't use the word "cheap" here. We say "inexpensive" or "frugal."

Nice information, but you might want to get a hobby, get out of the house more, join a social activity with real human people once and a while. Unless you sell these things for a living, you are way to into a $2 giveaway item at every networking event I have been to in the last 2 years for work.

Look at the Woot pic of the book light open. That's the position it is "stuck in" because the arms are spring loaded holding it in the full open position.

There's no way to adjust it from that full open position. In other words you can't adjust the light beam on to the pages you are reading.

In the full open position it does not cast the light on to a page, it cast it on your chest, for example, if you are holding the book as illustrated in this Woot.

Note, however, on a book light similar to this I stuck some Velcro tape on it and a notebook computer. I then used the light to cast a beam on my notebook's keyboard. It worked well as a keyboard light.

In for one, er, two... I have an elderly, housebound grandmother that'll love these. Not at ALL planning on using them myself for my annual "week of sloth on the couch with Christmas cookies and movies". Nope, not at all.

A few thoughts...
I see these lights selling at the local $1 store often. I've even bought one just for the batteries.

The Amazon model may be different because it uses 2 batteries whereas the Woot light uses 3 batteries.

These are basically throwaway items. Its major weakness is battery life, which is expected given the use of button batteries. "Real" booklights (the ones used by hardcore readers) use AA or rechargeable batteries. In my experience (I've given many booklights as gifts), once the juice runs out, these will get stored in a drawer, never to be used again. People are simply too lazy to buy expensive button batteries, especially if they need to be replaced weekly or biweekly.

BUT ... Woot is basically giving them away for FREE, so Woot away.
