Just click cancel on the update process and finish it when you get home.

Hope this isnt a silly question, but whats the difference with the portableapps? Do they have all the same features? Equally as stable? This is the first device Ive had that Ive had to keep space in mind so I'm trying to do whats best to keep it functioning.

Mine got lost in shipping. Oh well. At least I am getting a refund. Considering what I have read here and reviews everywhere else, I think I am going to get a bit more green together and buy an iPad.

I have tested one before, and I think it fits my particular use case better than the Asus.

The only reason I got it was a impulse buy due to the price, and that I could get it sooner than the iPad.

oh well. It would have been a fun tinkering machine.

Does anyone know how to enable browsing a web page by sliding your finger across the screen (sliding your finger up and down will move the contents of the page up and down)? My iPhone has spoiled me by allowing webpage navigation merely by a finger swipe.

By using the mobile version of the web page. The T91MT uses a full version of Windows 7 Premium, therefore you are viewing the full webpages rather than the stripped mobile ones that phones use.

Received mine today, and have spent most of the evening playing with it. Runs well - as fast as my Acer - and I even downloaded Kindle for PC on it,and love that I can turn it into a table and read it.

I'm still getting used to the smaller keyboard, but that will come in time. So far I am thinking it was worth the price, though I wish it had a bigger hard drive.

Does anyone know what the little button next to the power power button is? It has the picture of a hand pressing a button and of a screen switching orientation.

When I click it it opens some odd menu. I guess my main question is this button supposed to change the screen orientation when you have the netbook as a tablet?

All I really know is that it keeps the installed space down. For example, Google Chrome is 350MB installed and the portable version is 34MB. You can put the portable versions on USB flash drives and move them from one PC to another and still access the program because it doesn't install anything to your actual PC, just the Flash Drive. In this case, I just put them on my desktop in a folder titled "Portable" because they don't really install to Program Files on the C: drive.

Sorry if it didn't really answer your question. But as far as Google Chrome portable, It has all the same functionality. Bookmarks and extensions can be added. And VLC Portable plays videos just fine. They are just smaller in size.

Hold the button for 3 seconds and you will see a graphic come up on the center of the screen of a person. The longer you hold it the more it will rotate by 90 degrees. That is how you can change the orientation of the screen.

Hope this helped.

There is a plug in for firefox that lets you do this. Here's the link.

If you hold it, a little person comes up and starts turning directions. This is how you change the screen direction when using it as a tablet. Wait until the little person is the direction you want to see the screen and let it go.

Took me a bit to figure it out, too, but thank goodness the thing came with a manual.

Anybody having a problem with the screen rotating on its own? If I touch the screen in a certain way it seems to start rotating. Maybe its not grounded properly? Going to return it if its not fixable.

trdcelica

quality posts: 0 Private Messages trdcelica

The button that controls the rotation for the screen doesn't work for me. I did remove a lot of bloatware when I got the machine so maybe the button was linked to one of those piece of software?

Here is a little program I found that makes for a finger friendly way to rotate the screen: http://labs.karpanen.fi/tfsoft/tablettools.shtml
Drag the rotate screen icon into the start bar for easy access. I also set up a custom flick gesture for fullscreen (F11). That helps a great deal in tablet mode. I also recommend turning off the eye candy (Aero, etc.) Good luck fellow wooters.

Is it properly grounded???

Background: I just got it, and havn't turned it on. I'm charging it at the moment.

Scenario:
I'm wearing my sweet ablePlanet headphones (yay woot), no music at the moment. Whenever I touch any peice of metal on the netbook I hear and instant buzzing in the headphones. I remove my hand and it stops. I noticed it first when touching the long metal strip occross the top side of the netbook. I then touched the ethernet port, usb, etc. Same thing.

Thoughts???

(Note, I'm no electrition/electrical engineer. or at the very least, I don't own a voltmeter. )

For those of you (like me) who have issues with resting your palm on the screen when trying to write in Window's Journal, go here:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Look up the Eee Family -> Eee PC -> T101MT and download the "Touch Series Applications" under Utilities. Install the PenWrite software. This will allow you to switch between a finger and pen mode; pen mode allows you to rest your palm on the screen when writing!

The spacebar on mine is almost unusable, and makes typing very frustrating. I have to consciously press the spacebar in just the right spot, which often takes 2-3 attempts and makes me want to just take meeting notes on paper. The right side doesn't work at all, which is where I instinctively hit space, judging from the shiny spot on all my keyboards' spacebars. I'll be contacting Asus for a repair, which is really disappointing.

Aside from that, I like the little system quite a bit. It's actually remarkably snappy after upgrading to 2 GB and wiping the drive to load a clean copy of the OS.

win7 will cover 90% of drivers. right after my fresh install of win7, i was able to use touch screen. There is probably no way to prevent choppy vid during tablet because the integrated graphics card already comes with the latest updated driver after the win7 install.

this also happened to me,i did some bloatware removal and it seemedthat i disabled one of them. the program responsible for the home key ability is called Asus EEEpc hotkey service, click it and run it and the key works again

I have been unable to make it startup successfully automatically at boot however,i dragged it to startup folder and nothing, if anyone knows how to start it up automatically it would be much appreciated@!

will everything work like the screen rotation button? flick? multi-touch?

There's got to be a way to disable the "de-tune" in tablet mode. It just needs to think it's still in netbook mode, right?

Got this for my wife...

Spent about five hours yesterday "tuning" the machine (including the jump to 2GB RAM). I'm also a PC minimalist, so I like to do things like kill the start menu and blank the desktop (I use ObjectDock with no animations as a quick start shortcut).

She wanted it for on the fly photo display/editing when she's on a shoot (pop in the SD card, bring up PS, quick actions, throw the pic full screen to show the client). It actually works GREAT for that.

For the amount of money this thing cost it's a hell of a machine. The wife is happy with it so I'm happy with it.

FWIW - I also lost the tablet mode button after blowing through the list of programs I removed. Went back to Asus's site and downloaded the two touch utilities and reinstalled. Presto! The button started working again. I also disabled the Windows Tablet PC functions; had to re-enable that to get my touch keyboard back.

Ogres Mangling Freaky Ghouls! almost forgot!

How many freaking language packs does Office need? For frick's sake! Uninstalling all of those gave me a small brain blood clot.
