There are many neat shapes you can make with these. Here's a video with a demonstration.

I bought these last time when they were offered on woot. They are bloody, infinite fun and infinite hours passed by not doing my college homework.

But seriously, I play with my balls all the time now.

If you're thinking about buying these....... STOP THINKING and buy them. I work in a call center and these have passed so much time. My friends love to play with them too. Buy them they rock!

That is one set. Woot is offering TWO, I repeat TWO sets, for the price of one.

Loads of fun. Good luck getting it back into the square again. I am FAR too Makura-gaeshi for that.

I picked up a few sets of these last time they were on here, and they're great fun. Everyone who walks into my office picks them up and plays with them, and many people have remarked how cool they are.

That said, it is worth noting that the Buckyballs CEO seems to be a bit of a jerk. Had I seen that story before buying mine, I probably would have elected not to support a company that participates in such petty threats.

These things are cool, but definitely not worth $30. Or $15. W/e.

These are $34.99 each at Thinkgeek.com. A great deal here!

Soooo cool. And they get really good reviews on Buzzillions.
http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/buckyballs-reviews

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

Are these naturally colored, or are they painted? I'm worried about the color wearing off or peeling/chipping off.

I just bought one of these a few days ago for a craft project. I'm going to combine them with slug screws to make the joints for posable polymer clay figurines that can be disassembled. 216 off Amazon cost me a little over $20 after shipping. If only I had waited a bit longer...

Bought them last time, buying them again - BE CAREFUL, even ADULTS feel compelled to put these in their mouth for some odd reason.

My boss uses these in meetings to indicate simultaneously that he is bored and that he is not paying attention. In that they are extraordinarily effective.

Woot I'd be in for three if you would include your highly accurate human analogue from your field test. Without that I just can't justify a purchase.

As fun as they look, I cannot bring myself to buy one. The sheer number of electronics and computer parts steer my decision to a resounding NO.

I am sad.

Decided my signature is obnoxious.
Have two lines instead.

I have one recommendation for people thinking about buying these.

Buy spares.

I lost about 4 balls in the first week of having them and it was really annoying to not be able to put it back into a cube.

These have been great to have at work. And they've served as an excellent ice-breaker from time to time.

Just taking a household magnet to a laptop or external case of a hard drive would not be strong enough to break the tight integrity of a hard drive, however, more commonly it would require a magnet closer to the strength of an electromagnet to get through the hard drive shielding and be strong enough to result in the catastrophic loss of all data on a hard drive.

Not sure of the magnetic force of these little things but thinking you might have to try harder than that. =)

I *JUST* paid $70 for both the Gold and Black sets on ThinkGeek, 2 weeks ago. It sucks that this sale's happening now... but it's so good, I bought another 4 sets just for the heck of it. Some people I know are getting some SWEET Bucky Balls for Xmas!
