its true, but how many people do you know, will keep pieces of ceramic in theyre cars? Its not quite as effective...my 2 cents...

How long do these usually last for? And, do they warn you of when they are close to ending?(or when it's on the last item)

Also, was it announced anywhere there would be a woot-off before it started, or are they just random?

Thanks all you wooters!

24, 48 or 72 hours, usually, but I think one lasted for 5 days a while back. For the last 3 months they've been starting around the 20th, this one started at midnight on cyber Monday.

The last three items are the elusive box of crap, the screaming monkeys, then the lights. Normally when you see the lights, it's all over. So far they've shown the lights once on this woot-off so I'm guessing all bets are off.

I'm not a longtime wooter though so I'm only judging by 3 or 4 woot offs.

Happy wooting!

Usually 2 days. Sometimes 3, rarely 1 (although as we're in day 2 already, that's moot for this one)

And, do they warn you of when they are close to ending?(or when it's on the last item)

No. Although with experience you get a sense for the kind of items they usually close on. Also, when the last item sells out, they replace it with a "normal" woot and take away the flashing lights.

Also, was it announced anywhere there would be a woot-off before it started, or are they just random?

Pretty much at random, although they sometimes give clues in the newsletter or the blog posts.

Length: 2-3 day average.

Announced: Don't think so, but you can generally count on one a month.

Last Item: Usually it is either a screaming monkey or a set of spinning woot-off lights that end the woot-off.

Hint: Typically the Bundle of Cornucopias shows up mid-afternoon the second day.

your pretty much right. I have seen woot offs goa day past the Bundle of Cornucopias, and the monkeys, or lights dont always end it.

not true.... i won't admit to trying it, but instead i'll say i had "a friend" who did. Either it didn't work for him or there is more to it than what you posted. That same friend said that a BB gun worked really well

It really depends. Some of the wootoffs last for days, others for hours. Usually, though 24 to 72 hours is about right.

There's usually a big wootoff before christmas. I'm imagining this one's it.

I bought 3 sets the last time they were on here - you have to open and close it a bunch of times - and it will loosen the cap. Made sure to do that before handing them out to family.

Very true. The porcelain and tempered glass do not play well with one another. I've been an auto glass installer for 17 years and have done this little trick several times to prove it to my non-believer friends. A very tiny piece of the white part of the spark plug is all it takes.

Get one of these and break the glass from the outside without setting off the car alarm.

Seriously. Car thieves use these. They used to use sheet metal punches that were similar in design but made to mark sheet metal for laying out stuff.

These are cheaper than the one I bought for doing layout years ago.

People have posted that they often break if you do that. The idea is to put one on a keychain, and since the key will be in the ignition when you need the tool, a hard yank will pull it off the cap.
